Texas A & M 'Contained' Revolt To The SEC

Thought I would share the most remarkable thing I have ever seen any group of fans in the sports world. A&M looked very closely at the SEC but decided to stay in the B12 with a greater share of divided revenue going to them to try and keep them happy and in the Big 12. It wasn't long that the brain trust found that was a mistake.
What we saw was an organized revolt by Aggie fans that demanded a move to the SEC. All the message boards and radio call in shows were constantly hammered by Aggies continuously talking about moving to the SEC. They demanded it. Email addresses of the Board of Regents and college officials were posted and tens of thousands of emails came to them without any letup. Billboards along major highways were rented and were covered with SEC movement. Homemade signs were placed outside school officials' homes to keep the SECede movement at the forefront. T-shirts in the school colors were made with the one word that summed up it all - SECede. Tens of thousands of shirts and caps were made and sold. We (SEC football fans) began pulling for them hoping they could come join our conference and become one of us. All of us at work, here in Tennessee, bought their shirt and wore it when we went out. Soon, you saw A&M 'SECede' shirts in other SEC states.
I have never seen a fan revolt such as this and do not think I will see another as powerful. It was a grass roots movement that one couldn't help but side and pull for them. The A&M fans would not accept anything less than a move to the SEC. I will try and post a picture of one of the shirts. I am not used to your site and do not see how to edit if need be. They had a more detailed shirt in maroon with a great SECede logo that we all bought. I couldn't find a pic of it.
I can tell you this. Every Vol fan hopes that you can find a way to the SEC. The Gamecocks or any other school cannot stop the move if you wanted to come. When the SEC office says 'do this' then it is done. Look at A&M. There is no more hated rival, anywhere in any sport, than they have for the Longhorns. They voted 'yes' for their membership because the SEC office said it would help the conference. The conference is more important than an individual school. We pull together. Consider my university as being 'me' and the conference is my family. What is more important ..... myself or my family? The family of course. That's why you hear some of the 'SEC' chants. The 'family' is more important than ourselves and we take pride in our brotherhood.
Wishing you the best. TennesseeVol Link for one of the shirts: https://alcalde.texasexes.org/2010/06/will-am-secede/Will A&M SECede? The national athletic conference drama has officially taken on the tenor of the Civil War in certain areas of the country. Just check out this clever T-shirt that was sent to us after apparently circulating around College Station. Wonder what Gov. Rick Perry — an A&M grad who famously hinted at the possibility of Texas […]

It would be great seeing the Tigers in Neyland Stadium and that atmosphere. Don't want to hear too much "Rocky Top" though, lol!

There situation is different than ours. When Texas A&M left the Big XII, it was to get away from big brother Texas Longhorns, who had long dominated the rivalry in money and football results. Yes, I know Texas is now joining the SEC but that's different from when aTm made the move.
Clemson going to the SEC would be joining our little brother that we dominate academically and athletically.

There are only three things I hate in the SEC. 1. That chicken crowing on 3rd down in cooterville. 2. Those cowbells at Mississippi State. 3. The Whistler at Vandy baseball games.
Everything else is great.
