Something I'm wondering...

Oct 21, 2013, 3:56 PM

Why do people get so bent out of shape and say, "Focus on this week," when some of us other fans and posters post questions about the uniforms, about a game that is weeks away or about the upcoming seasons? What is there to focus on for us? Are we the ones who are dissecting film of the Terps to prepare for this week's game? Are we the ones who are out on the practice fields trying to forget about how bad we played this past week, taking our mistakes and learning from them to get better? Are we the ones who shouldn't be worried if the coaches are going to pull out the all orange for a top-five match up?

Heck no. We're fans. We're couch quarter backs and to the grill/fridge and back running backs. We don't have to be focused on this week or this team all the time because if WE focus or don't, it doesn't affect the game(s). If someone wants to ask what we think next year's QB depth chart is going to look like, don't jump all over him saying, "Focus on beating Maryland" and crap. We're posters on a message board where when a fellow Tiger asks a question, we should answer without acting like some roided out freak trying to get his peewee team to run a Chad Morris style offense.

It really bugs me that so many people post on here saying, "Focus on the here and now of THIS WEEK." If you're saying, "Focus on the good-great season we're having now," OK, I get that. Focus on the good and don't get caught up worrying about next season just yet, but you can't help that and we shouldn't jump on someone who is asking about that because before we know it, 2014 and 2015 will be here. And it is pretty fun to talk about what we think will happen next season with Stoudt, Kelly and Watson, or when Dye finally sees the field and the way Mike Williams will play once Sammy is gone and he has to fill those shoes. Yes, it's depressing to think that someday Chad will leave us to go be a HC somewhere, but I personally enjoy doing a little speculating and reading what people think will happen and who they think would be a good fit there for us.

OK, end rant. Just keep seeing all these, "Focus on this week" posts all season when someone asks a question regarding next season and beyond and think it's a little ridiculous.

"I've been working since I was 15 continually until now. I worked 40 hours a week at 15, when it wasn't even legal for 15 year olds to work that many hours."

The outcome of the game is reliant on Tigernet's focus.***
