Somebody explain to me how CJ & Sammy can't stick in NFL

Sep 28, 2016, 12:20 AM

By all accounts, both of these guys have incredible ability & talent, but have struggled to be a factor on some bad teams to the point of being cut. I don't think that injuries have been a major problem, but maybe it's the scheme or coaching philosophy doesn't match their styles. To be honest, former Clemson players seem to always be on the "danger list" more so than "impact" success stories over the past 7-8 years or so. Any thoughts?? Right now Nuk seems to be the only recent player getting noticed to the best of my knowledge.

There are way too many factors in the NFL. It has to do with the team they get drafted by, the personnel, the game plans, and also the fact that these guys have essentially won the lottery when they get drafted high and get big bucks.

There is no sure bets in the NFL.

Sammy has produced, but has had injuries slow him down this year. Last year had over 1000 yards. He is not going to be cut.

Plenty of Clemson players are doing really well in the NFL. Vic Beasley, Grady Jarrett and Stephone Anthony have certainly produced. Mackensie and Jayron are a great tandem (although rookies).

From a WR perspective, Martavis is out this year, but put up great numbers last year. Jayron, Nuk Adam Humphries and Sammy are all playing well. None are being risking to be cut at this point in their career.

Spiller is toward the end of his career. He'll likely get picked up by a team this year, but either way he's had a good run.

As a Falcons fan, I can certainly tell you that Vic .......

Beasley has NOT produced. If he doesn't get with it this year he will likely be cut/traded.

Have to agree, he has disappointed as a pass rusher, he just

gets swallowed up by the big tackles. He's playing on the other side this year and at least Monday night was still ineffective at rushing except for maybe a couple of plays. Hoping he will get better but have my doubts.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He's just not big enough - at Clemson he was.....

Sep 28, 2016, 10:05 AM

great for us because he was quick enough to get around most college linemen. But in the NFL, their lineman are too quick. He never has been able to go through linemen.

I'd like to see him develop into a real linebacker where he's no longer expected to rush the QB like a DE or lineman's supposed to.

Nuk is the best or second best WR in the leage FFS***

Why is Sammy Watkins included in this?

Sep 28, 2016, 1:00 AM

Sammy Watkins is all the Bills have right now and he's been out with a hurt foot. CJ can't stay healthy so I'm really not sure what you're talking about when you say injuries haven't been a major problem. I genuinely don't mean this in a rude or condescending way but do you keep up with the NFL at all?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Nope--NFL sucks IMO, but just going off headlines & posts

Sep 28, 2016, 1:22 AM

TigerNet is always posting updates on which players are getting cut or waived and rarely do you see an article where someone has had a 'breakout' game...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You obviously didn't watch last year

Sep 28, 2016, 1:28 AM

When Nuk and martavis had huge years.

Sammy will never be cut in the NFL.

That was a smart reconsideration, what he is smoking has already poisoned his brain. But that's understandable for those with small brains wouldn't you think!!!

Spiller made 9 million dollars last year. He's 29 years old.

Sep 28, 2016, 4:06 AM

That's a long time playing football. He will be alright. He will also get another year or two as a back-up.
