I think we all noticed that. Definitely didnt play like a potential top 15 pick.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

same needs to be said to the WRs and Oline...and playcaller***

Sep 13, 2022, 1:17 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The WRs and Oline will get better.

Sep 13, 2022, 2:09 PM

But there's nothing wrong with playcalling. The biggest issue there were some drops by a rusty receiver trying to regain confidence.

Please don't try to overextend your incessant negativity. Thanks.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

heard that all of 2021......

Sep 13, 2022, 3:02 PM

DJ has played pretty well and as of now, deserves to stay the starter at QB, but he needs A LOT of help from an underperforming WR and Oline group that has struggled for over a year now. Thus far DJ has shown the MOST progress from last year than WRs, Oline, and yes.........playcalling.

how's that for positivity??

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What did you hear last year, that we'd improve?

Sep 13, 2022, 4:19 PM

Are you aware we adjusted our style of play, and even after having 6 or 7 different OL lineups due to injury, and having to start two walk-on WRs by season's end, that we went from being written off at 4-3 to finishing with a clubbing of Wake Forest, a shutout win against your coots, and 6 straight wins, going from unranked to #14? Are you aware of that?

That wouldn't have happened without improvement. Just like every year, we will improve as the season progresses.

And with improved play from WRs, OL, and QB, there's nothing wrong with play calling.

You're trying way too hard. Another swing and a miss.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: What did you hear last year, that we'd improve?

Sep 13, 2022, 4:31 PM

Through 2 games the only improvement is DJ.

WRs, Oline, playcalling..............same as last year. The offseason was a long time to improve.

we are NEVER strong on the Oline, so that's to be expected.

WRs "could" improve in drops, but not speed/separation/deep threat.......just hope that Randall is a homerun.

we have who we have...............here's to going 15-0!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So, a) did we improve last year?

Sep 13, 2022, 5:27 PM

b) we will improve this year.

OL - needs cohesiveness. They will improve. We're "never" strong, yet we've managed to be the 2nd winningest program in America over the last decade.

WR - "not getting separation" is a myth even going back to last year. They are getting open; we need the QB to do better at surveying the field and for the WRs to not drop 3 or 4 passes a game.

PLAYCALLING - there was nothing wrong with playcalling last year or this year. It all hinges around improved QB play.

Why do you try sooo hard to be like a coot?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: So, a) did we improve last year?

Sep 13, 2022, 10:56 PM

This post has a bit of everything from the pumper playbook including massive denial of what can be seen by the naked eye and calling anyone a coot who points it out.

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Maybe you could try to be specific?

Sep 14, 2022, 12:04 PM

What exactly is "pumping"? Did I say something that was false?

What makes you better than that?

By the way, it figures you'd want to side up with this pheebo cat.. he struggles to do anything but b!tch all the time too.

Sep 15, 2022, 9:37 AM [ in reply to Re: So, a) did we improve last year? ]

The coot move is the go to when anyone disagrees with any of the self proclaimed "real Tiger fans".

My fear is that just like last year all of the glaring problems that we have won't see any or enough improvement until we lose a game or two and it's too late. It's been a minute since we won a national championship yet that's the coined phrase for all of the "believers". Heck, this isn't pattycakes anymore, this is a business. The players are getting paid and we have a coach that is making north of 10 mil a year. That's championship money. We should all expect to be in the mix every year now. Anything short of that is failure. Those of us that want that are just passionate fans.

There is something wrong with play calling when we keep lining up in shotgun on third and one or on the goal line. With 1 yard to go, we shouldn't be 6 yards away as soon as we snap the ball.

Thing is we know what Murphy can do as well as that whole defensive line.. the offense is mostly unproven. So we expect more from Murphy at this point and if he wants to be a top pick in the draft he’ll need to give 110% every play.. maybe he watched tape on Clowneys last year and thinks he can just take plays off and still go high

A bit out of context too. If you go back and listen, he was giving an examples of players understanding how they played.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He also knows MM is a leader and can take it.

Sep 13, 2022, 1:39 PM

Some other guys may whine. Wouldn’t be surprised if Dabo told him he was going to use his name but no way of me knowing that

I agree with this. I want to believe Murphy is a leader who is willing to be made "the example".

He can pick on a future top 10 pick

A little bit. It should motivate him

He goes onto tell a story about calling out Cle-missile and that he never once got the opportunity to call him out again.

I remember reading that Bill Parcells left an empty gas can in Lawrence Taylor's locker with a note asking if Taylor had any gas left in the tank.

I just figured Murphy has been double-teamed a lot so far.

Looking forward to seeing the defense this week on regular rest.

Sep 13, 2022, 2:20 PM

Fun story! Yeah, I bet he’s tired of getting held every play, too! After the BC game last year, I just assume Myles Murphy is being held every play. Why not? How many holding calls has the opposing OL had this year? I swear we get cheated by refs on holding calls more than any team in the country.

Go Tigers!

and Jimmie Johnson with Charles Haley, flushing the toilet and telling Haley that was his career going down the jon. Haley became a beast again after that.

I’ve never understood the hullabaloo around Myles Murphy. Seems he is constantly hyped as a standout Lineman yet he just doesn’t seem to be a guy you immediately notice when watching a game

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

miss that Christian Wilkins type personality on def line

Sep 13, 2022, 3:28 PM

These guys seem to be too nice. you need somebody to hold the others accountable but not sure we have that personality. I credit CW42 for those 2 national championships more than any other player. He made some big plays down the stretch both years.

Re: miss that Christian Wilkins type personality on def line

Sep 13, 2022, 4:32 PM

Miles is a beast! He’s often double teamed and I think we will see a different guy when all of our starters are back on defense.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I've had similar thoughts...

Sep 13, 2022, 10:41 PM [ in reply to Re: Some strong words with Myles Murphy ]

He was a 5*(all services) & l think #6 player overall composite coming out of HS regardless of position. Is he a recruiting miss, no, but a true difference maker w/ a rare skill set? That's a definite No.

I've noticed Murphy has not been listed as a starter all season -- he's always had a co-starter. No different for La. Tech game. Unusual for a projected NFL 1st round pick. https://2cic.nyc3.cdn.digitaloceanspaces.com/t/stories/22/football/pdf/culatechdepth.pdf

"Loafing" might be a little strong......but there's no doubt Murphy has a tendency to "disappear" on plays and breaks contain because he tends to get caught up in traffic.

Screw Calford.

Re: Some strong words with Myles Murphy

Sep 14, 2022, 12:38 PM

Really rare for Dabo to call a player out and I was really surprised. For him to do so must mean that he is really upset with his play. Hopefully, that will be used to motivate him rather than create more issues.

This is how I feel. I think it is ok for coach to talk in public about the offense or defense playing bad. May be alright to talk about a position group in public playing bad or not up to par. However I feel a little uneasy about a coach criticizing an individual player in a public manner. That's me and my opinion.
