Good morning everyone how was your weekend?

May 23, 2022, 7:48 AM

Friday night, did a little running around, some hibachi for supper then watched a movie.

Saturday, up to Clemson for a going away party for a friend of a friend, got a little wild.

Sunday, moving real slow, didn't do a whole lot.

May 23, 2022, 7:58 AM

Enjoyed the Tigs 15-1 whooping of BC at the Doug one evening;
Experienced a venerable & special golf course with an excellent host the next day; traveled over to warlord land for 50th reunion in the “tucked” forests of RH yore. Awesome turnout of 71/72 classes and had great converses with old friends!
Age was not kind to some, but many looked like they hadn’t changed a bit, well maybe less hair and more wrinkles. The common trait: smiles all around!
Back home To watch my top pick win the PGA!

boys and hang out while wife and daughter did all the activities. I spent $20 at Backstreets on Golden Tee and Pinball for the boys so I could watch the softball game and drink $8 mini-pitchers of Long Islands. Felt like college again except I had to sober up and take care of two kids. Ate at TD's, Evolve, Pot Belly, etc. Drank at TD's, Study Hall, and Backstreet's. Stayed in an AirBnB behind the Police Station which was a little weird. Went running with wife Saturday and Sunday mornings. Semi-Celebrated 17 years of marriage with her.

Decent weekend, love CLemson and would love to have stayed longer but had to get back for school and work.

sooooo jelly.

May 23, 2022, 8:19 AM

Primarily the Backstreets drinking part. The price is even more amazing, considering those liquor pitchers were a bargain at $5 in 1994, which should be $9.75 today.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-20yr.jpgringofhonor-obed.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

mini-pitchers were $8. I drank 3, bought a shirt, and

May 23, 2022, 8:32 AM

wasted money on LOTR Pinball and Golden Tee and still was out for less than $50. The shirt was for my middle kid, it says "i belong to the streets" on the front, Backstreets logo on the back.

That wasn't as cheap as all the Bush Lights I had at TDs and Study Hall. If I'm in a college bar, I revert back to my old drinking days.

are the pitchers smaller or is there less booze?

May 23, 2022, 8:34 AM

4 mini bottles went in one back in the day, which equals 6 free pour shots.

I know your booze tolerance is legendary, but I'm guessing you'd have been struggling with 18 shots.

pitcher size...they weren't full size pitchers at all, but they may have been a little bigger than that. I just remember that if your ordered a Jack and Coke pitcher, the ice went in first, then 4 mini bottles of Jack got turned upside down in the ice before they added the coke.

Had to itch the camping bug that a couple of us have had

May 23, 2022, 8:24 AM

for months. Hemmed and hawed about where and what weekend, and finally decided a week or two ago to stay local and go to Givhans State Park. Mind you, we decided in the midst of a month of GORGEOUS spring weather, with highs topping out at 73 and 76 and the like. So we book it, and then start seeing highs on Thursday and Friday of 97 and 98 degrees. Legit thought about bailing, purely because of the heat.

Ended up having a good time, but the sites are awfully close together--I don't want other humans within eye- or earshot, and there were quite a few of them. The campsites had electricity and running water, so nothing about this was "roughing it". We had a standup fan, smaller fans for each tent, electric coffee maker, TV (watched a few hockey and basketball games, Candyman 2 which was actually decent and mildly scary), ate some gummys, cooked some good grub.

I had layers and layers of bug spray on, and STILL got crushed by something out there. Right ankle is now a kankle, right calf is now a...kalf? Elbows are eaten up. I think I figured out that when we briefly went to look for kindling on Friday night, I brushed up against some poison ivy just before noticing that it was actually poison ivy and being a little more cognizant of it. That almost HAS to be what it is. Hurts to walk right now, itches like crazy, but still looks more like a few scattered bug bites than a rash.

Definitely had better camping trips. Like, most of of them were probably better than this one. But still, a meh camping trip is better than a lot of "good" things. Will make it up to the mountains and out of the heat next time.

Re: Good morning everyone how was your weekend?

May 23, 2022, 8:29 AM

Pretty nice. Did five cases Friday, wrapped up by 3p, had dinner on the marsh w some friends. Saturday did a lot of moving, unpacking, organizing. Went to Best Buy and bought a couple tvs for the porch & living room & kids playroom. Made ceasar salads with blackened salmon, one of my favorite meals. Long walk around the new neighborhood letting the kids roam a little bit and meeting the neighbors. I’m obviously going to have to acquire a golf cart to join the club. Sunday put on a butt at 8a, got groceries, sat on the back porch and watched the storms that came through. Pulled the butt at 205° at about 330, wrapped it and rested in the cooler until dinner time. Had my brother & SIL and their kid over for some driveway beers then barbecue sandwiches. Now back to the grind.

Oh, and last Thursday I interviewed with the suits at a hospital that’s recruiting me to leave my job here.

I LOVE YOU WEEKEND, PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME!!!

May 23, 2022, 8:45 AM

Friday, visit to RH Mom, back home to set up a new mesh wifi system, made pizzas, binged Lincoln Lawyer and enjoyed it.

Saturday, lazy morning with coffee and more Lincoln Lawyer, long stroll with the pup before the storms rolled in, headed to Salisbury late afternoon for the Cheerwine Festival and got parked just as the storms stopped. Wandered around checking out vendors and drinking Cheerwine Lager from New Sarum Brewing. Very good beer, but not one I'd want more than the three I had. Watched a local band called 9DayTrip that was kinda unique and freaking excellent (look 'em up). I'll catch them again. Stopped in the Sweet Meadow Cafe for an excellent muffuletta, then back down the street to the main stage to catch the Spin Doctors. Blues Traveler canceled because John Popper tested positive and wasn't clear to play. Spin Doctors were fun, played all the hits, and you could really tell the 90s kids that were dancing while recording the set on their phones.

Sunday, lazy morning, visit to RH Mom and watched about half the Clemson softball game with her, a grocery run, then off to the Neighborhood Theater to see Band Of Heathens. The Heathens were excellent, and I'll put them up against any of the jam bands you people want to toss out there. Fantastic show and was home in bed just before midnight.

Hate Blues Traveler didn't play Saturday, but no deductions and a 19.1/19 Covids weekend.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'll have to do this Cheerwine Festival one day.

May 23, 2022, 9:23 AM

Drop by 700 S. Fulton Street to see the old family home, spent many a Christmas there as a child. Maybe drop by my grandmother's gravesite. Haven't been to Salisbury in YEARS, probably just once since her funeral in the early 90s.

MauldinT, where are you???

It's a good little festival.

May 23, 2022, 9:43 AM

They haven't had it in 2 years because of Covid, and it did look like the number of vendors was down a little from the last one we went to, but we had a blast. New Sarum turns out Cheerwine IPA, stout, sour, and lager just for the festival. They generally always have bands worth seeing and both times I've been we've found a great restaurant for supper. We'll probably go again next year, so you have a year to work out your logistics.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You know what? It gargled balls.

May 23, 2022, 8:54 AM

Friday I bought an overpriced sandwich from a NY style deli. Around 4:00 PM I started feeling a little unusual. Skipped dinner and ended up going to bed around 8:00. Dozed on and off until about 11:30 when my anoos became a firehose. Had to get up roughly once per hour to paint the terlet. Saturday I was completely wrecked and spent most of the day on the sofa. Was eventually able to eat some oatmeal. Went to sleep around 10:00 and managed to avoid ######## the bed.

Sunday I woke up feeling relatively normal, but it was eight thousand degrees outside with a billion percent humidity and the atmosphere had a 2:1 gnat ratio. Heinous. Tried to get a few of the errands done that I normally would have completed on Saturday. Finally a monsoon was supposed to roll through and the sky became apocalyptic. At least I can enjoy a thunderstorm, I naively thought. Then it just rained lightly for five minutes and the sun came back out. The temperature dropped about 15 degrees, just in time for the day to end.

Pretty good...

May 23, 2022, 9:00 AM

Friday...met wife-of for dinner at Red Tomato and then we went to see the new Downton Abbey movie. I'm comfortable enough in my manhood to admit that I like Downton Abbey and movie was pretty good.

Saturday...hit Mama Penn's for breakfast with wife-of. Did a few errands and hit the Anderson farmer's market. Got some good produce and some fresh shrimp.

Stood around a cracked tee-fitting on irrigation system where all the valves are. Total PITA to fix this since whoever put this in originally just butted each Tee-fitting right against the adjacent one...I'm assuming to save space. I put in a shut-off valve ahead of the valve box just to quickly shut-off the leak. Strongly considering trying to fix this cracked fitting somehow without removing it. May have to bust out some flex seal tape and duct tape see if I can rig this thing. Hit J. Peters for dinner and watched some stupid movie wife-of picked out on Netflix.

Sunday...stocked up for the week at the grocery store. Fixed (hopefully) a leaking toilet, repaired a vacuum cleaner, and other assorted chores. Grilled some outstanding kabobs for dinner. Mix of Turkish chicken kabob wraps (yogurt based marinade) and teriyaki chicken kabobs and red peppers and pineapples. Served with coconut/ginger rice. Turned out awesome. Watched latest episode of Bosch and hit the bed early.

May 23, 2022, 9:09 AM

Fri - played golf with bengaline® Friday morning, and a couple guys called Worm and Hoop. Played like dog shid, but had a good time. Played another 18 with Worm and Hoop, played a little better but really didn't make a putt all day. Was pretty frustrating as I am a better putter than that. Starving so hit the bar at Brewpub and had a couple beers and an order of nachos. So freaking tired I was close to falling asleep at the bar. Home and crashed early (for me).

Sat - Tired a.f. all day. Didn't do much other than watch the PGA Championship. Made some margaritas.

Sun - wife worked and had a terrible day. Cleaned the kitchen. Went to brothers house to do some trim carpentry in preparation for painter coming next week. Mexican for supper - delicious. Made some margaritas.

May 23, 2022, 12:20 PM

Worked Friday night then Saturday morning, worked on the boat, back to work Saturday night, then worked again Sunday morning. Then I wanted to take the boat out but it apparently needs a new water pump. All the years I've had a boat, I don't think I've ever wanted to go out and not been able to because of a mechanical issue. I kinda feel like a maintenance failure.

It started raining anyway, so I went to eat at the Shelter and just decided to get drunk and then went and saw two bands--Natty Grass and Hans Wenzel doing his solo thing, but he had a dude with him playing a full sized piano outside. Not sure how they got the piano there.

Kinda hungover today.

May 23, 2022, 3:15 PM

Friday took the wife out for a date. Haven't been drinking during the week for a couple of weeks so I've been having fun with different cocktails on the weekend. We hit Ratio for Tapas and had a tuna ceviche that was fantastic. Had a drink made from these ingredients that was good but a little too light. Citadelle Gin,Mango Shrub,Pierre Ferrand Dry,Curacao,Lime,Soda Water. Then a couple old fashions. We went to watch Karaoke at a place near our house and there were one or two decent singers mixed in with some atrocious drunks until we got up to go and this dude went up and slayed Purple Rain. So then we went home and I made a couple of Gin Basil Smash's which we drank and then fooled around before sleep.

Saturday woke up and fooled around some more, then we got up and made coffee and I walked the dogs. We went and walked three miles around the neighborhoods near us and then showered to run errands. Hit up Trader Joes, got the kid a haircut, and bought a bunch of stuff for the costume that the 14 year old needs for his role in "the Wiz" Tuesday. Realized we bought a bunch of stuff that would work on a charcuterie tray so we had that for dinner. Wife and I listened to music while kids watched a movie and then we went to bed and fooled around. I got back up after wife went to sleep and listened to more music til I went to bed.

Sunday we slept in a bit then headed out to the grocery and to get some lunch. Then home and hung out for a bit until we cooked dinner Broiled Salmon and brocollini with an asian touch and then a side of fried rice. Wife went to bed to read and by the time I got in there looking to see if she wanted to try and go three for three she was asleep so I stayed up and had one more drink and then fell asleep on the couch til two or so. I think tonight I'll try to recreate the Tuna Ceviche.
