This softball team reminds me of Dabo's early teams. They were very good but just a play or two away from being great. I believe this SB team will be a top 5 team very soon.

I agree with you post. It’s easy to see where this program is headed. Great to be a Clemson Tiger

Rittman's teams went to the regional's, super regional's or World Series in just about every year during his almost 20 year run at Stanford.

To be exact, 18 years with Stanford. 16 regionals, 5 Super regionals, and oddly enough only made 2 WCWS appearances early in his coaching career... And has as many Pac 12 titles as he does ACC titles. To be fair though, he coached in the toughest conference. Real surprised he never could quite get to the championship game. I'd love to see him pull some talent from that Cali softball camp that Oklahoma has a lock on.

I hear you. The softball talent in Southern California is pretty ridiculous. My daughters are entrenched in youth softball out in Cali and we are friends with one of the Cali players’ families who went to Oklahoma. The Batbusters travel team she came from in absolutely loaded. It would be great if we could establish a Clemson pipeline. I hope my daughters end up good enough to help make that happen.
Fun to watch our Tiger softball!

I don’t remember having that feeling about Dabo’s early teams.

We were average to above average. We had some really good players at certain positions but we were deficient at other positions. I also felt that we were soft.
Like him or not, Chad Morris brought a toughness to our program that was sorely needed. That was a huge turning point for our program.

I see your point. I always thought during those years that they were close. Bringing Venables in really closed the deal. This SB team just reminds me of those early Dabo years. Able to compete with the best but just not ready for top 5 competition. It's coming.

One more Cagle on the team and we win it all

I get what you are saying. We just need 1-2 more top level players and we are in the elites. I think we have some very promising freshman. If they can mature before Cagle and couple others go pro or Olympics, we should have a couple of very bright years.

We need Moore to develop at third. Fielding and her bat have to progress beyond her freshman inconsistency. A solution is needed at short. Logoleo just doesn’t have the arm to play that position regularly. Viera is very promising as our catcher. If Cammy is graduating, then both short and second will be up for grabs if Rittman recruits some top level HS players. Russ has provided a great transition for us in left, but that will be another position to fill. One thing about softball, the fans don’t get to see much of the backups play to know who is the next star. The run-rule most often ends the game before we can see the youth play.
