In reference to the society problem:

May 25, 2022, 10:48 AM

Ban Social Media. Not message boards like Tnet (obviously) but social media all together.

Let me know one way Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Tik toc, or any of these has improved humanity.

It has slowed production in the work force, made teens feel like they have to look like a Kardashian, made people comfortable with saying horrible things to each other, given idiots platforms that they earned by not working and sitting at home, and made “mob theory” increase ten fold.

Go back and look to when Social Media became used by the majority of Americans (somewhere around 2006-2008). Let me know what trajectory the US has been in since then with morals and politics.

I have never used Twitter, Instagram and the dozens of other instant look at me tools out there. Facebook is a way to keep up with grandchildren so I look at it when I receive notifications. To ban ways to communicate cannot and will not happen in this nation full of rights and attorneys.

I joined FB sometime last year. The only reason I joined, was to reconnect with an old Navy buddy, that I had lost contact with over the years. Since then, I've caught up with a lot more buddies, and some old friends from hi school, and like you, it's a pretty good way to keep up with what the kids, and grand kids have going on. Other than that, some of the stuff I see on there makes me shake my head and wonder; what in the world are you people thinking.

Plus it's kinda fun, when some smoking hot girl sends me a friend request, and in her picture all she's wearing is a thong bikini. I like to show them to my wife and tell her to take a look at who wants to be my friend. It's usually good for a laugh.

I only dabble in social media

and I could easily go along with this. Heck, it's worth a try. Let's start with Twitter. All of this social media stuff is for effect. To get attention.

I have tried several social media platforms and discarded them within a day. I use it mainly as a communication tool to keep up with friends and family. I couldn't care less about having an audience.

I am one of the relative few who identifies myself on TigerNet. And while I would hate to see it go away, it does suffer from many of the same issues that the "primary" social media do.

I’m 36 years old. You won’t hear many people around my age or younger agree with me. My thing is, you can text or email me pics, videos, or updates. We can even FaceTime. If you don’t have my number or email, do I really NEED to keep up with you?

I am forty and I am the same way. The only "social media" I have is LinkedIn. I have never and will never have a facespace, twatter, or any other intrusive electronic crap.

Social media is 100% a net NEGATIVE to our society.......

May 25, 2022, 11:40 AM

for every ONE positive (ie communication, keepin up w/ family, etc...) it brings there are 5-6+ negatives (comments, bullying, self image issues, self confidence issues, political vitriol, etc...).

social media will never be banned, it is what it is at this point. Gotta just accept it and protect/teach your kids/family the rights/wrongs/use/non-use of it and hope for the best.

similar to phones. I think cell phones (calling/texting phones) are one of the best inventions with more positives than negatives, HOWEVER ...........SMART PHONES are one of the worst with more negatives than positives..............JMO though.
