Because that absolutely stupid onsides rule makes it too boring to watch.
Because seeing a grown "man" getting tapped on the shoulder then go down writhing in "pain" grasping at his ankle makes me want to vomit.
The arguement about TV ratings is stupid because this world cup is actually in a time zone that a lot of people can casually tune in for, and also we Americans are so competetive that if there was a world cup for chewing marbles or land mine lumping a lot of us would be screaming and cheering our country on

Constant offside, holding, interference, delay of games, huddle, ...... penalties ruin the flow of the game.
Some p.o. wr cries pass interference on every play.
Tv ratings are tv ratings.
Most people who like soccer find football hard to watch due to all the pauses in the flow of the game.
Different game , no big deal.

Because that absolutely stupid onsides rule makes it too boring to watch. That's right! Let's get rid of the onsides/offsides rule in hockey and football too. Oh yeah, base runners should be able to leave a base before a fielder catches a fly ball.
Because seeing a grown "man" getting tapped on the shoulder then go down writhing in "pain" grasping at his ankle makes me want to vomit. Please take a look at the LSU and Georgia games for players faking injuries.
The arguement about TV ratings is stupid because this world cup is actually in a time zone that a lot of people can casually tune in for, and also we Americans are so competetive that if there was a world cup for chewing marbles or land mine lumping a lot of us would be screaming and cheering our country on So how many people would watch the US Open without Tiger in it? Furthermore, how many would watch the US team compete in the Ryder Cup if Tiger wasn't playing? I suspect a few less than soccer.

The biggest argument I have heard is that the ratings are better than even the biggest college football games last year...well I think that's a dumb argument because what else is going on this time of year? You are going to have sports fans that could care less about what happens just tune in bc its the US team...also when those big college games are on you have a bunch of other games on to watch as well as usually around 200k people in a city watching there team in person which takes away from everyone sitting at home watching...I cannot stand soccer I think its the dumbest sport ever along with hockey but everyone has their opinions...I am a baseball fanatic and know people that cant sit through two innings. I just cant take the fake injuries that are ALOT worse than in football...and while it may be growing the people that say it is passing baseball and basketball have lost their FN mind LOL

This year's TV ratings don't necessarily indicate that

soccer is overtaking any of the traditional sports ahead of it in the American pecking order, but considering they're the highest ever, it definitely represents an upward tick from an interest level standpoint overall.
The World Cup always takes place June to early July, and though it's in the same time zone this year, noon game ratings are up substantially over previous nooners when the tourney was played in Europe and South Africa (4-6 hr time difference).
Once the MLS figures out how to better connect the public with its top players and build more name recognition in this area, it will improve in its broader appeal. I'll say one thing, my teenage son and his friends have been glued to the tube for a good number of these matches whether it's the US or not. I haven't witnessed this kind of enthusiasm before and take it as sign that soccer is turning the corner as a more acceptable spectator sport.

I understand that and do think you are right it is growing but if you are going to be a soccer fanatic be a soccer fanatic year round, I bet most of these ppl wont even watch a half if the US gets beat out. And I bet none watch MLS, I love baseball and think that is the greatest game ever and I hate the Red Sox and Yankees with a passion but couldn't wait to sit down and watch that game just bc of the game and I love to watch any baseball...I don't think soccer fans are truly like this just every 4 years

It's a dumb argument because of the demographics. Clemson,SC and Athens,GA vs USA and Germany. No rocket science required. If the rest of the world ponied up and played real football and there was a World Cup for that, the ratings would crush anything that has ever been watched in the US. You can't argue ratings between the NFL and USA soccer when one has a casual fan base divided into 32 parts.
