we may not like it, but it makes sense.
I saw this, and is was the clearest explanation I had seen...
“Their (Clemson’s) non-conference strength of schedule, as of this weekend, ranked No. 333 nationally. In three decades, Lunardi has not seen the NCAA tournament select a team with a slate ranked so low. “I’m not sure I’d want to bet a mortgage payment on the committee going against a trend they have consistently upheld,” Lunardi said.” - Post & Courier
And we lost to several of those really bad teams. Historically bad.

Exactly. Which many of us, me included, have been saying here for weeks. I think Lunardi also mentioned that there hasn't been an at-large with as many Q3/Q4 losses as Clemson.

Leaving Clemson out is not hard to understand based on the metrics. I will grant you that. But if you are really trying to get the best however many teams in the tournament, how can you with a straight face tell me that NCST is better than Clemson? I will buy that Pitt and Duke are as perhaps Clemson caught them on an off night (similar to what Louisville and BC did to us), but Clemson boat raced NCST 2 times away from Littlejohn and won comfortably at Littlejohn. That to me means that empirically Clemson is better than NCST.
Again, I am not arguing that Clemson should be in the tournament. I just don't understand how you can put a team in that lost 3 times to Clemson by an average of 21.67 points during the year.

That's my only compliant as well. I realize that leaving NC State out wouldn't have automatically put us in since we were shown as the 4th team out. Still though, it's hard to understand the logic of how NC State deserved a spot more than Clemson. We had the same overall record, we had a better record in the same conference, and we blew them out 3 times.

We lost to two really bad teams out of conference, and one historically bad team in conference.

Yes. But the ACC is not the standard it once was. The standard is your record in Quads 1-2, and don’t lose to Quad 3&4 teams. And your strength of schedule. Record in the ACC has no relevance to making the NCAA tournament.

Alright magic, NC State was 1-6 against quad 1. So how do you cipher that?

Notice the word and. What was their record against Quads 3 and 4? You’re only looking at half the equation. Most seem to want to overlook that even if NC State was left out, there were 3 other teams ahead of us that would have replaced them and we’d still be out.
