If a career 85.5% FT shooter could make 75% down the stretch at NC State, and if we'd gotten one more made field goal at Miami and at Louisville, this basketball team would now stand at 10-5 in the league, having won 9 of its last 10 games.

Problem is your observation is a moot point because a career 85.5% FT shooter didn't make 75% down the stretch, and we didn't make one more field goal at either Miami or Louisville.
It's not what you think could have happened, but rather what did happen.

Yup, it's what happened. However, his scenario just spoke to how close we were to 2 or 3 more wins. It's just fan talk.

The problem with that is that there are almost always other games where we won the game.
But if the other team had made a basket or 2 or not missed free throws, they would have won.
You have to look at it both ways.

I would tend to agree with you but Akron is the only game we have won by 1 possession all season.
St. Peter's is the only team we have beaten by two possessions.
Neither of those games would affect our conference standing.
I'm not sure we have gotten the good side of a conference game that could be considered to "go either way" near the end of the game all season.
We either handle the opposition fairly easily or lose.

didn't go out way by saying "well look at these close wins we could've easily lost". But this year we have literally only lost the close ones.

I'm assuming he is hoping that we will be given the benefit of being a better team than our win/loss record reflects we are. I'm hoping the same myself!!!
