partisanship, or at least it should be? Nothing about my political philosophy that makes me a libertarian has anything to do with calling out partisan hackery.
And, I do stand for plenty of people and things on the right. I am 100% confident my positions on most (especially economics, individual liberty) are not only well to the right of yours, but much more well reasoned and defended.
The biggest difference between you and I is that my political "heroes" are not transparent buffoons playing rubes for money, which is 100% what this article demonstrates. Do you really think that in the eight years that Tucker begged Hunter for help, Tucker now genuinely sees him as some evil arch-villain? No. But that's what brings in the ratings from the suckers who watch him.
In short, get better heroes, and maybe you'll understand what it is to be "Right."

Is there anything substantially new that is tied to egregious behavior impacting current U.S. policy that would justify the focus over, say, other policy issues? Or is it just salty feelings from 2020?

One does not need to be on the board for the last two years to extrapolate from the past few months how many Hunter Biden posts there are from that timeline.
Here is what I believe to be your beef. You gauge political allegiances based on how riled people get to partisan dogwhistles. And boy, Hunter Biden is a big, big whistle. So when you run into a person who is not emotionally reactive, and they don't respond to the whistle as you do -- or worse, they force you to reconcile competing realities -- you recoil with aversion and naturally assume they're on the other side; as opposed to just someone who sees the issue as important on principle, but certainly not something to twist oneself up into knots over relative to far more existential threats to the Constitution.
I will go further, since you have often brought up how I "fit in" with my politics.
I believe you have some broad political principles. Something like:
America is good.
Freedom is good.
Capitalism is good.
Moral behavior is good.
But they don't go much further than that. Instead, you see partisanship -- Republicans vs. Democrats -- as a proxy for those values. Republicans represent America/Freedom/Capitalism/Morality, and Democrats represent the opposite. And, this dichotomy is far more rigid than the principles individually. The result is that you run very hot on partisan issues, as opposed to the principles themselves, and because of this dichotomy, Democrats can never be right, and Republicans never can be wrong. Because this is a false construct, you buy into the emotional nose-leading from the populist class that Democrats are out to destroy everything you hold dear (which again, is American/Freedom/Capitalism/Morality), so it makes you especially worked up and creates a powerful feedback loop with people like Tucker who also paint politics in the "us vs. them" construct. This is where I come in. You have no idea how to place a person like me (or Cata) who does not neatly fall into one side or the other, so you have to pick one, and because I'm not 100% with you, I must be 100% with them, when in reality I'm much more on the side of America's founding ideals than you are as a result of trying to mold your views to keep up with the populist (read, illiberal) drift of the GOP.

Musk's views are the same they were before he tweeted, as they were after it. Nothing about what he actually believes has changed. So what makes him more a Republican now, than a Democrat before? The only thing that changed is that he says nice things about the GOP, and bad things about Democrats.
This is the so-called "proof in the pudding" with what I said above. That you may have "ideas" about your politics, but they really don't go much deeper than party affiliation. Which means rather than stay in one place anchored to your principles, you'll drift whichever way the GOP is floating.
