Seems damning though that he tries to stop himself the moment he realized he was on camera. That's the kinda reaction that seems genuine.
I sure hope it's that though, just kids talking. Of every coach we've ever had, BV leaving would be the hardest pill to swallow.

Why I don't believe this.
If Venables was already locked in they would have named him today. Why wait?
He may eventually get the job, but as of now he is at best one of the guys OU is considering.

The University has things they must do first (interview requirements, background checks, due diligence, etc).
Those things usually take a little time.

Him and Dabo would have to discuss the succession plan. Given we're preparing for a regular bowl game, he'd probably be okay with him leaving now, and has a plan in place for who would call plays on the Defense.
My guess would be Todd Bates and Miguel Chavis would coach D Tackles.
