So, with a 3-headed Monster of very good RB's, again in 2022..

will Clemson become a different team that won't live on the long pass to destroy opponents as done last umpteen years (not including last year).

Will say that DJ showed some decent long ball abilities in a few games, particularly in the Pitt game where he hit couple nice ones and had a long TD dropped by my man SHiP.

What think you about becoming a running game team 1st to set up the passing here & there, especially if our QB's or Oline don't perform.

We have been a run first team since Tony Elliot took over.

He called it "Power Spread"

We've always used the run to set up the pass. But this team goes as far as DJ takes them. If he plays up to his potential, we have a legit shot at winning a national title. If he doesn't, we'll struggle to win the ACC.

If we can’t pass consistently, it won’t matter. We’d struggle to win the ACC.

Clemson has been a very balanced offense since Chad Morris took over. It remained that way when we transitioned to Elliott and Scott and then to just Elliott.

The possible exception to this was the 2020 team that just couldn't seem to run the ball even with Etienne in the backfield. We still tried to run the ball for the most part though.

I think the biggest difference recently is not the lack of effort to pass as much.

The biggest difference lately has been the lack of yards after the catch from the WRs.

Our percentage of plays called as runs and passes have probably changed very little, but not we aren't getting the "home runs" from our WRs and that makes it seem as though we have decided to go much more in the way of running and ball control.

It'll depend on the O-line and QB reads. An effective running attack is grueling for a defense and builds good relationships for the O-Line. They like moving forward more than falling back against a pass rush. It wears down the D front and LBs. This will be the plan against teams without a lot of depth. Teams with quality DB's will attempt to stack 8 or even 9 in the box and dare DJ/Cade to beat them. It's up to the QB to make the right reads and hit the WRs. If Clemson is going to remain Wide Receiver U they have to start having better QB play.
