So tired of this BB program..

Jan 13, 2015, 9:24 PM

Every year, it's the same old story. We barely beat the teams we're supposed to, we get upset by at least 1 or 2 teams we should beat, and when ACC play begins we keep it close for a half and then get absolutely annihilated as the game goes on. What's worse, the "diehard" and "faithful" BB fans on here always respond with the same bulls**** each time so complain: "Our coach is fine, we just don't have the talent to run his system", "We've got a pretty good recruiting class coming in so be patient", "Give these kids time to develop", and yada yada etc. Well, you know what: f*** that. I'm tired of sitting around desperately waiting for our BB program to get better. I'm tired of watching us spend all our energy just to barely get 3 star prospects of average talent who never amount to anything. I'm tired of realizing that the only thing worth getting excited for is Clemson football because its the only real sport here with an actual chance to compete for a national title any time soon. Apart from the occasional Trevor Booker or KJ McDaniels we just flat out cannot build anything consistent no matter WHO we get to come in here and coach. We're sub par as a whole and we straight up suck against any real legitimate talent. Heart and hustle can only get you so far. Sooner or later you actually have to have real talent and skill. Sick of my intelligence being insulted year after year by how "hard our guys work" and "how much heart they have". I want some freaking talent up in here, not some below average kids who "twie der berry best" each night (insert mommy voice)

Why and how we EVER got rid of Shaka Smart is beyond me. Please someone come in and resurrect this absolutely pathetic excuse for a BB program...

This is all too true..

I swear he turns good offensive players bad by forcing them to play his snails-pace system. It's just atrocious.

AMEN! As expected you get the "change the channel" or "we don't need fans like you" responses. I think Brownell is a great guy but why in the
h€ll he can't get a d@mn shooter amazes me!

Re: So f***ing tired of this BB program..

This is part of the reason why Littlejohn only gets 2000 people maximum. The fans don't want to watch this team struggle to put up 50 points, and then those that complain get yelled at by the "real fans." Newsflash to the BB supporters, the problem isn't with the fanbase.

Spot on a the baseball program that was once great is heading in the same direction the Basketball is.

Re: So f***ing tired of this BB program..

Jan 13, 2015, 9:34 PM

I don't give a d@mn who the coach is and I'm not a dumper but clearly we are trending down and with the exception of a positive turn for the second half of the season last year, we've been terrible under Brownell. Just can't score the ball and we remotely look to score. Run the clock down and take a #### poor shot each trip down the floor.

Re: So f***ing tired of this BB program..

Jan 13, 2015, 9:32 PM

Do you really think you can do any better than what these guys do. The main thing that Is wrong is consistency. We will make a shot and then miss the next 5. Fix the consistency and we got a ballteam

Jan 13, 2015, 9:35 PM

Dude we are getting beat by 30, there is no excuse for that. I didn't expect to win but 25 pts with 12 min left is just terrible. The girls team can shoot better than that

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: So f***ing tired of this BB program..

Jan 13, 2015, 9:35 PM

Also be prepared for ppl to start attacking saying it's the fans fault because we aren't " true Clemson fans" bc we don't support this team like we should lol I agree with you by the way... Just wanted to give a warning... You know since we never supported OP or Barnes when we had a respectable program... Hard to keep showing up for this kind of program, would be diff if it were his first year but he's had time.

Re: So f***ing tired of this BB program..

Jan 13, 2015, 9:38 PM

I know I disappointed to but we are playing one of the best defenses. Our shooting is already horrible enough.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I can't get as emotional as you when we

Jan 13, 2015, 9:36 PM

are playing UVA.

I liked some of the improvements against Pitt. But you are right about how irregular we are and how we rarely get many consistent shooters on the team at one time. Maybe in over 30 years.

I don't think just switching to another coach will fix it either.

Grasshoppah - for me it began 40+ years ago with Riker, Reebok, and Roche - and the saga continues today. The journey is a long one and will not get brighter for any of us. The CLEMSON Admin will see to that. It is written deep within the catacombs of the AD's bylaws to perpetuate this feeling of helplessness surrounding our BBall program (if you can actually call it that). No - go your way Grasshoppah and learn the meaning of persecution before you find the need to complain again about things you cannot change. This program is following it's destiny of destroying young men's souls and the hope that lies within. You have been warned.

Vs good teams by the referees in games against top tier competition. The ACC needs to protect the top teams in order to stay atop the NCAA BBall world. Money. We can't compete realistically with the rest of the league and country, even if we do make the tournament - so why not keep the top teams the top teams so they get favorable matchups early in the big dance, ultimately bringing the ACC more revenue the deeper those top teams advance into the tourney.

With it being common knowledge around the league (in football) that we have far and away the best talent, coaching, and ultimately, shot of making a major bowl while drawing in huge tv audiences and $$$ (minus FSU)... it'd be stupid for the referees the ACC pays, to hinder our chances of making the acc all of the cash sitting there on the table waiting for anyone in the country to take, while providing more league-wide respect and national recognition.

It's unfortunate, but we are in BB what Wake is in FB - Irrelevant &

Re: So tired of this BB program..

Jan 16, 2015, 12:27 PM

Wait, you think we got rid of Shaka Smart? Why would he stay here? He left to be a head coach on his own because the Clemson job is a tombstone.

We don't have the luxury of having a winning tradition in basketball. Our location is terrible in terms of proximity to good basketball recruits, and the ones in the area go to schools with traditions like Duke and UNC.

Our fanbase ultimately does not care about basketball as a whole. Yes, we do have rabid fans, but only when we are winning. Which is rare and does not last for very long.

How can one resurrect a program when it never had life? What Clemson needs is a head coach who is the total package. Not just a recruiting HC, not just an x's and o's HC, but guess what? The bottom line is Clemson is not an attractive position for a head coach.

Unless we get absurdly lucky finding a coach who does it all, and is willing to do it at Clemson, Brownell is probably the closest we are gonna get.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The Shaka comment is an indicator of how clueless
