kiss, each one looking longingly into the other's eyes.

After years and years of seeing this statue, St. Peter took pity on them and one day decided to let them finally kiss.

He granted them one day of freedom from their rigid stone bodies.

As soon as they could move the statues held hands and ran straight into some nearby bushes. There was tons of commotion, branches shaking and dust rising and birds flying away in terror.
Eventually they emerged, exhausted from the bushes and sat on a bench smoking cigarettes.

After a few minutes the guy statue says 'are you ready for more'? The girl statue says 'OK, but this time you hold down the pigeons and I'll crap on them'.
