this sounds crazy I realize...however, its not as insane as some of you morons here wanting to push Dabo out I assure you!...but, don't be shocked if you see Clemson slide into #4 today.
Crazy? Yes. But it is at least plausible.
And back to Dabo...yes, I would like to hear why the MVP of last night's championship game didn't warrant being played just one week ago. I agree with the frustration and criticism of not understanding that and not being given a solid answer on that. However, some of you dudes here are taking the Dabo criticism WAY, WAY TOO FAR!

Had DJ been the QB all night and we had a typical win as we saw the rest of the year...I would agree. That could be seen as having been corrected with Cade.
Look you may be correct...I'm just saying, I could see them looking at Clemson for #4. We do fit in a lot of ways.

Dabo destroyed the trust we have in Dabo. Stop gaslighting the Clemson fanbase and using his talking points. He needs to be a man and own this, not sit there on national TV with Cade standing behind him covering his poor decision like a child. You do realize Dabo is paid to do his job right? You do realize he spends likely 12 to 15 hrs a day working in his job, excepting Sunday mornings, right? You do realize based on all of his past actions since taking this job that he has proven that he does care about Clemson, his players, his family, and for achieving success and winning on and off the football field, right? And if you realize nothing else...you do realize he gets friggin monetary bonuses for achievements of this football team, right?!?!

All of that above STILL does not answer the very obvious question of why he didn’t replace DJ earlier in the year. You can spin all that other stuff and I agree he is hard-working and loves Clemson but he is paid to do the best thing for the school, the fans and mostly the team. It was obvious to me a long time ago that DJ wasn’t it no matter how much I like DJ and really wanted to see him succeed at Clemson. He’s a great kid. Dabo is paid BIG money. I would take all the heat and criticism for that amount of money every year. He made a BIG mistake this year that really cost this team not to mention us fans having to listen to those crappy chicken fans all year when it could have been avoided.

Why can't people think Dabo deserves a statue, be thankful for everything he's done, believe everything you said, etc. and still not think he screwed the pooch in 2022 with this QB thing. I can't speak for everyone else, but I think people are annoyed by him not owning it. He's done 99% things perfectly imo, but he screwed this up and some people are frustrated. I think missing a playoff because of stubborn loyalty and obstinance is kind of a big deal. I don't want him fired, but as a fan I have a right to be annoyed after what happened last night

I would agree. I think criticism of how Dabo handled this all is well founded.
But there is criticism and there is calling on him to leave, and asinating his character which a lot of people have been doing here. Surely you see the difference right?

When Cade started lighting it up last night I said to my wife "Oh, this isn't a good look for the Clemson coaching staff"
The obstinance is unbecoming, but I live in New England so I'm used to pig-headed hubris from coaches  At least Dabo has a pleasant demeanor and treats people with respect

You are exaggerating to try to make a point. I haven’t seen a single poster suggest that Dabo needs to leave the program.
Fans have reason to be frustrated. DJ is the worst quarterback we’ve seen in our lifetimes and had Dabo put Cade in the second half of the South Carolina game, we win that game easily and Clemson would be in the college football playoff.
That’s why fans are frustrated and rightfully so.
Instead, Dabo stubbornly stuck with DJ for no apparent reason.
We’re all happy this QB mess is behind us, we’re all thrilled to have another ACC championship, and we’re all looking forward to a bright future with Cade as the quarterback and Dabo as the leader of the team.

I like Dabo and he has to be given credit to putting Clemson in the elite of college football teams. However, after DJ’s poor performance in 2021 I have to think Cade should have been given a chance to get significant playing time against Furman and LA Tech. After all, he was a 5-Star quarterback out of Texas where high school football is a religion. He won three state championships in the highest league in Texas. In the High School All American Game in three series he led his team to two TDS and a field goal seems to be credentials that would warrant him being given a chance against our powderpuff opponents.

But no other conference championship, and the committee has said before that championships do have to mean something.
I don take they take a 2 loss team for the first time who isnt a conference champ. Nor do I think they put in both TCU and Oh St.
Not saying it will happen...but I wouldn't be surprised if it did either.

Cade played last night. THAT changes the situation for us, I would argue. That puts several points of argument the Committee has made in the past to justify their picks on our side more so than with any other team ahead of us except for GA and Mich.

He doubled down on DJ clearly being the better option, Cade not being ready, and even going so far as to insult fans.
If Dabo had done a better job of acknowledging our subpar QB play, and said that we continue to work hard on evaluating QB play and working on skills in practice, that would’ve been much better. Instead, he dug his heels in, went out of his way to prop up DJ, and even seemed to discount Cade’s skills.
Dabo isn’t a poor victim here. He created a lot of this, and I hope he learns from this and does better next time.

I'm not saying the unsettledness of the fanbase to what happened last week compared to how Cade looked last night isn't deserving of criticism and questioning.
I'm just saying...there are lots of people on this board who are taking that criticism to absolutely absurd and ridiculous levels that are not warranted nor deserved. I mean there are people here, and not just one or two, who were wanting Dabo to leave. Did you see those posts!? I mean seriously...that's sheer insanity levels of idiocy.

Yes, and THAT is what I'm discussing.
Criticism is fine, and I would say warranted! I also don't see how he could not have put Cade in last week, and his answers haven't added up. I get that.
But Dabo has "dug a hole himself with fans"...that's horse shiite! THAT is where people are taking this way too far!! Thats questioning Dabo's loyalty to Clemson, his players and his job. And thats absolutely idiotic and ridiculous!

It’s clear that he’s a competitor, and wants to win. That’s why this whole situation has been so strange.
I felt all along that Dabo was playing DJ because he was the better QB, and trusted that what he was seeing in practice and what he was telling us in interviews was evidence of that. But after Cade’s performance last night, it is naturally causing fans to question our coaches.

Kudos to Dabo for having the recruiting talent that he possesses. Cade is going to be a good one. One game doesn’t make a season. Coaches, even the best coaches don’t always make the best decisions at game time and Dabo is no exception. I’ve seen Saban make them, Smart make them and even bear Bryant make them. Dabo is a great coach and recruiter. Clemson will always be in the mix for national championships as long as he stays there. Clemson’s next opponent will be better than North Carolina was. It will be a more difficult challenge for Cade, the team and coaching staff. Can’t wait to see how it unfolds. ?? ?

Now looking back protecting DJ (he is a good guy, I agree) is NOT conflicting with giving meaningful play time to Cade. Dabo’s own odd decision makes fans frustrated. The situation could be eased easily.

Dabo lied on ACC the Huddle last night about Cade and practice time and Mark Richt caught him. Dabo did not know what Cade had said about practice time given before he came on. He may have built Clemson back but he lied to us and he blew a chance for this team to make playoffs. Own up but his ego will not allow it. Sad but true.

I haven't seen anyone here calling to get rid of Dabo, but I do think he owes his players, staff,athletic department, university and fans some reasonable explanation for holding CK out when DJ has spent most all year struggling. And until he does answer questions, I am not going to blame anybody for anything they say about him.
And if Dabo thinks that he is above reproach - that is bad for Clemson football.
