So has anyone watched VaTech this season?

Sep 27, 2017, 8:52 PM

In your opinion what are they great at and where are they a bit weaker?

Young QB? O-line?

They've always been solid at CB and special teams, so curious as to how this team stacks up!

TIA.

I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me.

Thanks! Sorry missed that.

You need to focus on Clemson.

Didn't look dangerous to me.

Higher then they will finish the year. They have played 4 garbage defenses, like really bad defenses not just kinda bad.

Their defense is good but if you wear down that DL I think they are prone to break down vs a good team. Good DBS as always. I just really question that offense at this point in terms of how its perceived vs what it actually is.

They seem to think they will be able to shut down Bryant but I think they are failing to see he has better run skills and a better supporting caste then their qb, so we have nore ways to manufacture something if he is struggling, if we get Jackson in trouble, I don't see what their answer is, I don't see them manufacturing first downs in a struggle. They believe right now he is a premier, not good but premier, passer based on his stats. But again vs 4 terrible defenses. Im not sold.

Where are you getting all of this garbage? I swear, its like Clemson fans are trying to manufacture ways to get angry at VT. "Their fans say he is a great quarterback" referring to VT fans opinion of Jackson. Who said it? Link, maybe, or just BS like most of everything else I have read on this board for a solid week? I've been a VT fan for 50 years and I have not heard a soul say anything close to that.

Jackson is performing at a high level FOR A REDSHIRT FRESHMAN. He is a freshman. Great quarterback? Get back to me in a couple of years and I might have a clue. Right now, he is a really good freshman quarterback, not so unlike your own. I do think he will be a really good quarterback, but only because of games like this one. Being a coach's son, he will learn from every mistake he makes. He is a really smart kid.

If fans from both sides don't believe their freshman quarterback is going to struggle a little in this upcoming tilt, you're just a homer. Two of the very best DC's in all the land, both with good to great players scattered all over the field are going to cause a lot of headaches for these two youngsters. Both defenses got a ton of players back, and I have watched Clemson enough this year to know Venables has not played his entire hand yet, and Foster hasn't had to. My guess is the film these two watched of our first four respective games might give tendencies, but expect something new from both sides in this one.

I agree with some of the things you said. But Kelly Bryant isn't a freshman. He just hasn't played much till this year.
But he's been in the system for a while and should know it pretty well.

Wva, Delaware, ECU, ODU....wow....powerhouses.

That's the point us Tiger fans are making.. Nothing personal to Hokie fans, but you guys haven't faced anyone in the same universe as what you will see Saturday night.

Get the ice tubs ready.

Did we struggle mightily against any of the patsies? We outscored them 129-17. Isn't that VT should have done with them?

The schedules are the schedules. VT can only play who is on their schedule. Now we play you guys.

I guess what I am saying is Clemson fans are completely dismissing that this VT team took a better version of Clemson to the wire ten months ago. I know you won't buy this, but I think in time and maybe even already, Jackson is a better quarterback than Evans was. Much better passer, but not the inside runner. I think he sees the field better. He grew up in a college locker room literally. His Dad coached at Michigan for 20 years. He is an intelligent kid with a coach that has a penchant for developing quarterbacks.

VT is on the right path. Honestly, Clemson has better talent at most positions, but the gap is not near what it has been. I posted here quite a bit last year before the ACCCG, and there was a lot more football talk and a lot less of the entitled garbage I see predominately on this board now. I thought I had stumbled onto hineygate when I started reading the posts.

For the record, I think Clemson wins it, but not in the fashion that I've seen promoted on this board. I think it will be a one score, maybe 10 points at the most. And I don't think the score will be what last year's ACCCG was. First one to 30 wins this one.

the defense this year is better than last years - and much more dynamic run game. if we don't make mistakes, its difficult for any team to beat us. that's just facts

I for one am glad you are stopping. You are one of the most ignorant posters ever. You obviously think very highly of your own opinion, unlike the rest of us - RockHillTiger

Va. Tech is legit

Bud Foster is a defensive legend and Justin Fuentes is an up and coming offensive mind.

They are more complete than Auburn (offense) and Louisville (defense).

They're QB is a red shirt freshman dual threat that is very poised.

They have one of the best CB's in the country in Adonis Alexander and one of the best WR's in Cam Phillips.

I think we beat them, but this isn't going to be a rout. Look to the 4th quarter for the Tigers to dominate.

I rate the stress factor in watching this game at an 8. This isn't going to be fun. :)
