league gets overrated by the media, yet I've now seen multiple polls showing that Clemson fans overwhelmingly think that the UGA and USC games are more important than the FSU game.
The one that ran in the P&C here in Charleston today showed like 45+% voted for UGA, 40+% USC, and FSU was something like 13%. I don't remember the exact numbers, but that's close.
So we don't care about the SEC, but we do care about beating SEC teams more than winning our conference?
And FWIW, i can understand the USC thing since it's emotional and we need to break the losing streak, but how is UGA more important than FSU? How did UGA beat out USC?

UGa and USCjr have been bitter and long term rivals... far beyond that of Fl State in terms of time and depth of rivalry. I won't go so far as saying hatred... but there is no love lost.

UGA hasn't been a rivalry in 25 years, and that game

easily means the least to the success of our season. If we lose to UGA and win out we win the ACC and at least have a shot at playing in the title game even if we don't get in.
If we lose to FSU we likely don't even make the conference championship game. We won't get anywhere this year like that.
I want to beat the Dawgs too, but i would easily take the FSU win over the UGA win. I don't even have to think twice about it.

but by proximity. If you grew up anywhere near the Savannah River (like I did in Allendale County) you know this has nothing to do with conferences. This is classic border rival college football. Hell, everyone remembers those great games from the 80's so 25+ years has not tarnished its attraction.

it is the first game! The Tigers need to set the tone early if we are going to have the kind of season that everyone wants and expects! If you lose to Georgia, then one of your team goals is all but gone!

UGA is more important right now

because it sets the stage with a big game. If we played FSU first and UGA in the middle of the season the poll would be different. Beat UGA and FSU becomes more important.

One Game at a time....right now UGA is the most important

after that it'll be SC state, then NC state and so on.
A loss to anyone in the ACC and/or usuc would ruin this season. I also think a loss to uga diminishes our shots for a "magical" season because the sec homers will continually bring it up even if we win 11 straight after that. And with all of that attention it'll hurt us in the polls.

No, they're all 3 important for different reasons

UGA is important because it's the 1st game of the year and it can really set the tone for what's to come. Win that game and Clemson will legitimately be in the conversation for a National Championship.
FSU is important because it's our 2nd really big game, and the winner of that game will probably play in the ACCCG. I would think this is our most important game of the year.
USuCk is important because the streak must end this year. No excuses, it must end. Then you may be able to add the fact that there's a chance we go into the WB undefeated. If that happens, it becomes one of the biggest games in program history.

we're only on a 1 game losing streak to the 'Noles, whereas we're on a 5 game/4 game streak w/ the Leghumpers and Coots respectively, so it's more important to turn the tide with them first.

Bragging Rights and Respect...easy

Not many fans have to hear from FSU fans on a daily basis. Also, if we win the ACC but lose to the SEC schools, its a hollow victory, especially as far as national perception goes. Let's be honest, we all want RESPECT. Beating the team (or conference) that is considered the best, helps get that respect.
