So does the rumor that G-Hop is possibly returning have

Jul 17, 2016, 12:07 AM

any truth to it? I don't remember seeing it confirmed or denied.

Is there a scholarship for him? I thought we were at 86 as of now.

And is there really a place for him even if the scholie opens up? Obviously Artavis and Ray Ray are holding down the 2-spot, don't see him breaking in there. The 9-spot is being held down by Mike Williams and Deon Cain, no spot for him there either. The slot - his old position - is being held down by Hunter Renfrow and Trevion Thompson, with Cornell Powell likely to be pushing for time too.

That's a tough, tough depth chart to crack. He might be better off moving on and finding somewhere where there isn't such an insane logjam, because he's been averaging only 20-25 catches a year and it'd be hard to see him even getting that with the depth chart the way it is unless a run of injuries hit.

I personally don't think he's a natural slot receiver anyhow. I think he's a flanker, but beating out Artavis and Ray Ray is a tough ask for anybody. And he's probably the #7 or #8 receiver on the roster at the moment...he's not bad, Clemson's WR corps is just that good at the moment.

if this were any other team I would certainly question whether or not there was a spot for him
but we love to roll our receivers in and out so we will always have fresh receivers and an advantage over the defense. If the coaches are ok with it, I think there is most definitely still a spot for GHOP. The below numbers are the snap totals in 2015 for our main WR core. GHOP was #4 in total snap count in the rotation. Mccloud and Cain's totals would have likely been higher if not for missing several games but it's not likely they would have equaled GHOP's total. If he comes back in 2016 will he reach that number of snaps again? Highly unlikely, but there will still be chances for him to contribute.

i´d like to kindly add, particularly 2 years ago, watson seemed to have pretty good comfort throwing to hopper. the dude can really run. if his head got fully screwed on straight.. i think he could make something of himself playing football..

A T-Net member very close to the team has said "No way" ...

Jul 24, 2016, 7:24 PM [ in reply to Re: So does the rumor that G-Hop is possibly returning have ]

A T-Net member very close to the team has stated in a couple of separate posts that there is no way that Hopper is coming back to play football.

I have no idea, and if I had to bet on it, I'd say no. But,

Jul 17, 2016, 12:33 AM

Dabo is a very reasonable, forgiving person and coach, and if he truly believed G-Hop had turned it around, I could see him giving him another chance based on that. However, even though G-Hop is a very good receiver who has experience and knows the system inside and out, we aren't exactly hurting at his position, and it would be tough for him to make it based on that.

So who's choreographing all the locker room dancing if G-Hop is gone?

There you go, you got it, he's coming back strictly for choreographing the locker dance. Specifically as Dabo's personal dance instructor!!!

Was G-Hop kicked off? I thought he decided he was leaving to explore other opportunities, maybe start somewhere else.

He left on his own if memory serves correctly.***

He intended to graduate and transfer

Jul 17, 2016, 6:36 AM [ in reply to Re: I have no idea, and if I had to bet on it, I'd say no. But, ]

story was that he didn't have the right class or something so graduation is delayed.

He had all summer to get the right class***

I remember Dabo being surprised at a press conference when asked about DHop not showing up for practice at beginning of the semester. Then DHop posted on Twitter that he was attending classes.
Someone posted on here that he had a new baby and maybe some personal problems.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If GHop reached out and said he wanted to graduate I think

Jul 17, 2016, 9:18 AM

Dabo would try to get him back. Dabo is all about players
leaving better than they came in and getting their degree.
Dabo values the graduation rate in the same light as wins
and loses. He feels like the graduation of players is as
big as putting them in the league.

Unless things happened behind the scene, I recall him leaving on his own. I could have missed something though.

GHop is done playing football at CU

Classes maybe

But he will not put in helmet and pads again for us.

I feel bad... Like G has lost his way somehow. It must extend beyond "not getting enough snaps". I know he was vocal about depression last season but ugh. I hope he finds whatever he's looking for and stays on the right path.

This picture is supposed to mean what exactly?

Jul 24, 2016, 5:49 PM

I distinctly remember both Sammy Watkins and Tony Steward wearing gold grills in their mouths too. It's not pleasing to the eye to me either, but doesn't say anything about his character or lack thereof.

Re: This picture is supposed to mean what exactly?

I wasn't just focusing on the fake gold fronts... But rather the quitting the team, hanging out with gangster rappers on IG, pants falling off, tagging everything "MyMoneyGood" and the overall picture friend. That's not a good look. And quitting Clemson to go hang out with thugs in Anderson isn't either. Genuinely worried about this young man. I hope he's alright.
