Breaking down the Clemson post-spring offensive depth chart

The Clemson offense was high-flying and powerful throughout the team’s run to the national championship game last year. But it should be even better this year. Full Story »

"degree of surprise" for each position discussed.

"IDIOT POSTER OF THE MONTH SO FAR...GWP-- You have won IPM Award for your failure to completely comprehend a clear post & then choose to attack someone who points out your ignorance. While you are not yet in the same No Class Catagory as deRoberts, ClemTiger117 & Tigerdug23, you are getting closer to the Sewer Dwellers." - coachmac

Noah Green?

May 12, 2016, 5:28 PM

What has happened to the kid from Boiling Springs? I thought he was expected to break the 2 deep.

Interior guy.

Tough to get in there with the herd of elephants we're amassing up front. He'd probably be #6 or #7 at worst on the interior-guy pecking order right now...we could see him, but it'd take some injuries to some of the interior 2-deep. He'll factor, but probably more likely as a junior and senior than a redshirt frosh. I really like Falcinelli - so do the coaches, apparently, and I'd consider him the #3 or #4 guard as well as the #2 center - and Maverick Morris is a redshirt sophomore swing guy who's coming into his own, could plug-and-play at either guard spot or OT. And neither guy is starting yet, which gives you an idea what's ahead of them.

so do you think both the freshman OTs play or either/both RS***

I think they both play

May 13, 2016, 2:03 AM

One thing to keep in mind is that we're thin with true tackles. Hyatt and Fruh can't play 100% of the reps, not without breaking down...and they're both already entering year 2 of their 4 years of eligibility.

We got lucky with Hyatt and Fruhmorgen - they're prize tackles, for sure - but we really need a minimum of three and preferably four true OT's to play. On the other hand, you don't want to waste a year of eligibility by playing a guy less than 100 snaps either. So the rule usually is...if you don't make the 2-deep as true freshmen, you don't play.

I think they'll make the 2-deep.

So unless the newbs just plain have bad fall camps, I think the staff will feel compelled to play and develop them. The need is there, the PT is there, the ability is apparently there.

I think that the question should have been, can our offense be better than the best offense in history that Clemson put on the field last season. And I believe that yes it can be, there is always room for improvement even with the best!!!

Two words: Tavien Feaster? ;)~

Will he be healed up or redshirted?

He'll be ready to roll. Highly unlikely he redshirts. Be nice if he did though. But I think they'll have some designed packages for him to try and get him the ball in space. I wouldn't expect a lot of carries as he will need to learn all the aspects of pass protection, which is extremely hard to do as a true freshman.
