I would not call him a jerk, but it was certainly not timely

Yeah, and he's catching hell for it by the media.......

Sep 21, 2012, 8:46 AM

that game last night sure humbled him by what he said to the media after the game - it's time for him to focus on what he needs to do instead of showing off for the crowd.

Is this just an "Athlete" thing??

Sep 21, 2012, 9:00 AM

I have been watching sports for a long time. And I have always found it humorous when a player on a team that is getting "whipped" has a great play and then proceeds to do a little show boating. When you and your team are getting your butt handed to you that is not the time to "show off". That time has passed. When you are winning, then maybe you can show off a little bit. But anything else just makes you look like a fool or extremely lame.

But to my surprise you see this a lot. Like last night, I am a panthers fan, and I laughed when I saw Cam Newton do his little Superman routine. What is so super about leading a team that is getting "whipped". I laughed even harder when he proceeded to throw 2 ints right after that. But you know that he is superman... But it is just not Cam Newton. Heck I have seen it at Clemson.

I don’t know. Maybe I am just old school. But I think you go out there play hard, talk up your team mates, and leave the show boating for someone else.

Go Tigers. Beat the Noles

But this is just not about Cam Newton. A lot, and I mean a lot of players do it. Even the guy you

Its kind of sad. Maybe at that level they do it for marketing, but to me it looks silly.

I'm right there with you, LNT...Never saw it while at CU and

the first time I actually noticed it becoming pronounced was when Danny Ford was there, believe it or not. It's the same thing with all these athletes kneeling, crossing themselves, whatever....I have no problem with those, as long as the athletes are sincere. Most of it, I believe, are attempts to attract attention, which is what all the "showing" is about. And, frankly, I don't buy into this "Kids will be kids" cr@p....They didn't do it under Frank Howard, and when Danny saw it, he stopped it, too.

He reminds me of LeBron

Found the "I" in team and is out to market himself as a brand.

Pretty sure LeBron

Sep 21, 2012, 9:40 AM [ in reply to He reminds me of LeBron ]

Gave up the "I" so he could have a team to win a championship. If he wanted it to keep being all about him, he'd have stayed in Cleveland.
