Since when does our Legislative Branch

start taking responsibility for crime investigations? Watching the video now confirms that there was organized communication between some at the riot and prosecution is justified in those cases but why does Congress get involved instead of leaving it to law enforcement? I guess there is nothing legislative needed at this point in time.

They compared it to the 9/11 commission. So - they view it

as more than simply a crime investigation.

I believe Congress should look into Jan 6th along with law enforcement which is ongoing. We still have no answers why people in Benghazi were left twisting in the wind and died. Did Obama call the dogs off? Did the Sec of Defense? Did some General--doubtful? It doesn't appear Hillary Clinton made the call, but it did and does matter. It was worth looking into though Benghazi was politicized by both parties.
Jan 6th should be looked into also in my opinion, but Pelosi is certainly looking to politicize this too. She never misses a chance to do so. Just the facts ma'am.

There were at least 7 congressional probes into Benghazi. It was thoroughly covered and investigated.

Isn't the investigation of this insurrection, by definition,

already as "politicized" as it can possibly be? How could Pelosi politicize it anymore? The entire event is rooted in team sport politics.

The Republicans definitely politicized the Benghazi hearings. I have no doubt the Democrats will do the same with Jan 6th. Why are questions to Pelosi not allowed? Was she aware of potential threats or not?
I do want to know why the National Guard was not deployed in advance of January 6th as requested by the chief of the Capitol Police. This request was denied by the House and Senate Sergeant of Arms. I do want to know why it appears the FBI ignored multiple threats passed on to them several days ahead of January 6th.What did the FBI know? Surely they were monitoring some of these folks? I do want to know when did Trump know what was going on at the Capitol and what exactly did he say to his subordinates regarding the Capitol breach. I would like to hear from Mark Meadows and other WH staff on what was going on. It is important that we learn the facts. It was far from a lovefest.
I also want to know why the police didn't use lethal force on more of the rioters? Things totally got away from the police although they were certainly undermanned.
I suspect this hearing will be drawn out for months and doubt this will be the last hearing. Pelosi is a totally political animal. She held up legislation for COVID relief to keep Trump from benefiting from passage of the bill. This will drag on for months. If the time is utilized to truly get at the entire truth, fine. However, I suspect Pelosi will want this to drag on well into 2022 to affect the 2022 elections.

It’s used for grandstanding. This commission has one goal; say “Trump bad” every three seconds for the next 6 months.

As was pointed out above, they'll still need 6 more hearings

to catch up with Benghazi and "Hillary Bad" rhetoric leading up to the 2016 campaign. Worked like a charm, didn't it? And it wasn't a secret that that was the entire point of the effort("s", x 7).

Seriously, I know it’s weird to be nice on tiger net and especially p and r.
Makes me wonder, Trump bad won’t really(-ish) have an impact on 2022. Who is going to be tied to this as the bad guy since Trump isn’t really doing much right meow?

should it not have raised eyebrows that it went from being Obama's fault, to instantaneously being Clinton's fault THE VERY NEXT day after Obama won a second term?

Theoretically, such an investigation would be to see if

any legal or policy changes would be necessary to respond. (As opposed to law enforcement investigation, which would be about catching criminals.)
In practice, these hearings are always just grandstanding, and I'm always tuned out.

amplifying a viewpoint the participants already hold, as opposed to learning facts to form a viewpoint.
