Since we're doing "Who is" today, who is the

Clemson athletic icon you have talked to for more that 10 minutes?

I probably have a head start since I grew up in Tigertown. I delivered newspapers to Coach Howard until he told me under no term should his newspaper be later than 5:30 in the morning, dated one of Coach McFadden's daughters, shagged foul ball for Bill Wilhelm and player church softball with Fred Cone.

But probably one of the best was Herman McGee, The first African-American inducted into the Clemson Hall of Fame never scored a point in any sport and never coached a team in Tigertown. As kids, we'd head down to the training room and Herman would give us old chin straps. Somme times I think it was just to get rid of us!

I had the great pleasure and opportunity to work for Coach McFadden in 1970-71. He was heading up the intramural department. What great man he was.

knew him back then a bit. I was always star struck around him. And yes he was a great man. If you didnt know who he was you would never hear it from him.

That would be Clarisa.
Great Tiger fan and athletic fan. No one could talk as fast or "shake it" like Clarisa.

I used to play a lot of basketball with the football players at Fike in the early 80s. So from that group I would have to pick the Fridge or maybe Terry Kinard. More recently got the opportunity to spend some time with Tajh. He’s a great guy. My daughter was the Tiger Cub for 3 years and married the Tiger mascot but the conversations with The Tiger and Cub were always one sided.

My Bride used to have her hair done in downtown Clemson.
One time Coach Bowden came in and sat beside her to get his cut.
It made her day. She was so excited to sit and talk with him.

Could list a few, but I will say Rob Bodine. We played American legion baseball together. He was a heck of a
football player at Pickens High School, and an all conference defensive lineman for the tigers. He caught in baseball. You couldn't help but throw strikes to a target like that!

Nuk, Shaq Lawson (they played HS with my nephew and we used to help feed them on Wed. nights). Dabo and CJ (We used to frequent Mac's). But probably the most iconic is Mr. Lee. If your not a hard core, long time Clemson fan you probably don't know who I'm talking about. I'm not sure how to post pictures on here or I'd show you.

Coach Frank Howard several times. Coach Caldwell at Iptay meetings. Billy Preacher a former player. We flew out of Seattle together on the way to Korea. He was killed in combat a few weeks after arrival
