Only items I saw missing from the grocery store last weekend

Mar 3, 2020, 9:14 AM

was bottled water and hand sanitizer.

When exactly did bottled water become a staple? I mean when I was a kid, there was no bottled water. Maybe Perrier, which NO ONE was dumb enough to buy, but really, turn on your faucet. Fill up a bottle. Or milk jugs. Or whatever. But my grandfather would be amazed not only how many people overpay 2,000% or more for bottled water, he'd be even more amazed how many people consider it a necessity now. Even in 2015, when Columbia had the flooding and no water service for a week, I didn't buy pallets of bottled water for my parents. I filled up 2 large Igloo water coolers for them. Meanwhile, people were buying bottled water like crazy.

I buy bottled water sometimes. But I usually reuse the bottles over and over with faucet water. I buy the Dasani water because they have nice bottles.

when power goes off.

Some things our granddads would beat our ### for today.

My granddad who passed when I was in second grade would beat me black and blue if I ever uttered the words "I have to charge my toothbrush"

Hey, the toothbrush pays for itself

In less cavities, less tooth decay, less gum loss, and less dental bills. Not to mention less squirming in the dentist chair when cleaning.

Takes like 10 minutes for a cleaning. When I graduated college and realized I hadn't been to the dentist in 4+ years, and was using an old fashion tooth brush.....took 2 hours to clean my teeth and they bled like ####. Was horrible. Then had to fill two cavities. From literally that day until now I've used an electric toothbrush. It's a game changer for teeth.

I didn't go to the dentist for 10 years

Mar 3, 2020, 9:32 AM

but used a sonicare for the majority of that time.

No cavities. But she did scratch off a large chunk of plaque.

I was told the sonic toothbrushes were not as good as

Mar 3, 2020, 9:34 AM

the other ones, like this one:

Dentist says even though Sonic costs more, the slightly less expensive (still expensive) electric ones that rotate, are better.

I can see that at the beach where tap water is smelly

Mar 3, 2020, 9:31 AM [ in reply to Only items I saw missing from the grocery store last weekend ]

We called it "egg water" growing up, it stunk.

Up here in the hills, water is completely fine to drink. Buy a filter if you want some extra protection from it. But yeah, buying it is kinda of a waste of money.

I'm just buying ammo and baby formula

Mar 3, 2020, 10:26 AM [ in reply to Only items I saw missing from the grocery store last weekend ]

My wife is picky about the formula, then I figure I'll just take by force anything else we may need.

we figured out that tap water is bad

Two weeks and there will be millions again.

Regulations have been reduced for production. My guess is the testing, instead of one per 50 will be one per 1000 or more.

I my professional opinion, those N95 remove 95% of all particles over .03 microns and that's exactly enough to stop all but 5% of the virus critters. Give me a HEPA filter and half face mask or a PAPR and I'll visit Wuhan.

A virus can enter through dry and broken skin which is common to folks who wash their hands often. I say put lotion on the hands after every washing to prevent that and keep your hands away from your eyes, ears and other body orifices.

Best of luck wiping and shaking it out.

Our admins just got into an argument about hand sanitzer

Mar 3, 2020, 12:09 PM

One wants to force it on everyone who walks in the office, the other says it kills all the good bacteria which will kill us just as fast as the coronavirus.

Hide your wives and children...
