more HC's including Dabo Swinney..and We will have many more HC's after Coach.

The present joy & resolve should be to enjoy & appreciate his stellar effort and the unusual high quality of the teams he has comprised on the field of play, the success he has presided over in the academic classroom phase as well leading his players to go out into the community & beyond.

Clemson football teams since 1896 have played in approx 1050 games in those 116 years and been invited to approx 50 bowl games.

Thanks to all our 25 Football Head Coaches of Clemson (A&M, College) University & its thousands of Players who were/are supported by students, professors, graduates, alumni, fans & citizens who have enjoyed hundreds of memorable football games of which many brought fame to it's beautiful campus of higher learning.

Saying..Thank you to ALL The Many Football Tiger Players and their Head Coaches (living & deceased) who grew the sport into what we enjoy today!

Go TiGERS!

For many of us, including you and I, our experience

began with the Frank Howard era.

Howard is regarded as a legend for a variety of reasons, but mainly due to his longevity. Upon retirement in 1969, he often joked, "I retired for health reasons....The alumni were sick of me!" By 1969, we had had a period of over ten years of mediocrity, although winning the ACC title several times. During my four years, 1965-1969, both Clemson's and South Carolina's biggest games were our annual rivalry, as neither went to bowls. Many thought Howard was eased out, but he was near the retirement age of 65; hence, his announcement.

Following Howard, Clemson drifted into a nether world, finding reprieve under Danny Ford, then back into that same darkness until Tommy Bowden arrived, and though a decent man and a relatively good coach, his peaks were limited. The selection of Dabo Swinney confused and stunned most of the Clemson family, including me, with the attitude, "What in the heck are they thinking?" The five consecutive losses to Carolina had many ready to put Swinney on the hot seat or chunk him altogether. Yet, he turned the program around, putting Clemson into an elite status few of us ever imagined was possible.

Now, of course, the faithful are asking, "Can we remain top tier?" My view is one of continued, strong support of Coach Swinney until proven otherwise. I may disagree with some of his direction, but then again, like everyone else, I disagree with a lot of people. Though not one to dwell upon the past, often the past offers insight as to the capabilities of our leaders, both onfield and off. Swinney has more than earned my support and my encouragement, as well.

Good morning Mr. T, Dabo's "rise" watch began in a TAC...

put on by Mickey Plyler®.

If I find it, I'll add the snipped transcript, but the question to MP was, "which coach on staff would be the next HC?" I didn't take it to necessarily only mean HC at Clemson, just the one Assistant on staff that would be the next HC hire, here or there.

Without hesitation, "Dabo Swinney, he has it." That was 2004, not long after Dabo arrived.

Alabama came after Dabo again, Saban the last, when Clemson stepped up, made Dabo Assistant Head Coach, then Dabo made his bones with Barker/Administration/Academia as the Football Representative on Barker's appointed group designed to fine tooth the Academic Review Advisory Committee telling football to rescind offers from Dwight Jones & Jo Jo Cox.

People that have suggested Tommy didn't go to lengths to actively promote Dabo to the University have been nothing short of wrong.
