Signs of the times.

Interesting article. SC has a surplus of cash. So what do popularly elected politicians want to do with it?

Meanwhile, I lost a tire to a pothole last week. And there's NO ONE but the government, who will do anything about it. You can give $1,000 to every person who travels that road, and that pothole will not be repaired, but you may see nicer cars hit it and get flat, nicer tires.

All property taxes on vehicles should be spent on roads. The lottery was "supposed" to fund education.

I was riding around Greenville a couple of weeks ago and couldn't believe how bad the roads were. It was nice to get back to paved roads.

Try coming to Lexington sometime.

It makes Greenville look amazing. It's sad really, you go to Georgia or even NC and roads are MUCH better than SC roads. We kept gas taxes low, to give people more money to spend on rims for the tires they will blow on the potholes. We finally raised the gas tax to a rate comparable to NC and GA after almost 20 years of less road and highway spending. What people don't realize, is by catching up to NC and GA in the tax rates, we basically just stop getting worse than those states and maintain our poorer roads where they are. To catch up to their quality of roads, we would need to increase gas taxes even more, to make up for the 20 years of difference in the taxes and less spending.

But hey, those shiny rims though, and that big TV.

Tell you what, drive on US 1 towards Lexington. Take a right on Lauren Road at the AmeriGas place near Four Oaks Farms. When you take that right you will hit a MASSIVE pothole that has been there for 2-3 months. You literally can't miss it.

Well we were all promised hover cars in the 80’s. Something tells me that big oil and asphalt companies fill fight tooth and nail to keep us from going to Hybrid, electric hover cars!
