Signal stealing history

Nov 5, 2020, 1:05 PM

in the 70's you could have an extra guy in the huddle or something. ANyway this loophole permitted Hootie (my personal "favorite" HC as most of you know) to do something. He had Mark Fellers a backup qb run out there and tell the qb the play. Thinking was qb's spok the same language. So pretty much every play MF trotted out and trotted bac to the sideline. He played a little but mostly for a year he was a messenger. Out to the huddle and back to the sideline every play.

Mark Fellers, I remember that name . We had the ball near our own goal line with about a minute in the half. Jim Phillips made the comment, I don't look for anything fancy here and immediately Fellers unleashed a 95 yard TD pass.

I was on the Hill that day. my recollection is they set it up with straight up the middle on 1st and 2nd, the typical run out the clock. On 3rd he took a quick step and flung it out to WR who had single coverage. The WR set it up by popping the DB with a block on 1st & 2nd, then scooted past him on 3rd for an easy TD.

The hunchbacks will be trying to run right, left & up the middle but we will bend but not break. Look for Ian to throw 2-3 picks as normal against us.

We will be ready for this game. ND going to be surprised at how we attack them on both sides of the ball!

We know their plays! ??
