serious trigger bait, but this is unbelievable. Truly shameless stuff.
Watch the bodycam video? Was it justified? Smarter people than me will determine that, but I saw an out of control situation (not a single person there is giving an ounce of attention to the officer's commands) and a women clearly about to stab another woman. To your point, I guess the officer should have allowed the stabbing. But he didn't. So when I Google "Columbus Ohio Shooting" here is what I see:

Does anyone think the media doesn't know what they are doing when they craft headlines the way they do? Does anyone think the media doesn't know what the result will be when they leave it at "Police Office shoots, kills black teen"?

It is factual, but not the necessary language, just as I said pointing out the dead girl's race isn't pertinent. What Swarley has criticized isn't biased and instead wants lip service to police. He cited headlines that were perfectly fine and sound.

It's out there, I've seen it. It's pretty terrible. Cop rolls up on a fight spilling out into a driveway, a girl with a knife pushes another person to the ground. Some guy takes a kick at her head and whiffs, meanwhile knife girl goes after yet another person leaning against a car. That's the point at which the cop unloads... honestly, it looks like it was completely justified use of force to protect a third party.

So I'll agree with you that pointing out she's black in the headlines isn't necessary. But other that, these are correct:

Accurate and straight to the point. No bias. Anyone wanting it stated another way is actually calling for bias themselves.
Police fatally shot a 16-year-old girl. Fact. Undisputed. Want to know more? Read beyond the headline.
NBC did it right. So did the Chicago Tribune; they even note in the headline that she was swinging a knife. It appears most of the local outlets did as well.
So yes, your point about pointing out her race is valid. Everything else is simply wrong. The other headlines are proper journalism.

It's similar to how people here used to claim some vast anti-Clemson conspiracy by ESPN because they weren't kissing our butts and pointing out our flaws. That's because their bias couldn't let them see past honest reporting.
What happened when we started our amazing football run? ESPN is all over us and giving us massive national attention, and in a positive way.
It wasn't that they were biased against us. We just didn't deserve the praise before 2015 that our fanbase thought we did.

is should the first reaction be to reach for your firearm? At one point, they were right in from of him and he reacted by telling them to get down, hand to his gun (or so it seemed).
Could he have (should he have?) instead tried to intervene in another way? He knew, per the calls, that there was aknife involved. I understand that he had no way of knowing if anyone had a gun, but seems like there could have been another gameplan. Also, was his partner around to assist? I could tell where they were ..had
I've said it many times - I know I watch too many police shows on TV...Olivia Benson would have just tackled the girl from behind while Stabler covered everyone else.

it again - some folks really expect a lot from a police officer.
This guy showed up in the middle of a chaotic scene. He saw someone wielding a knife at someone who had nowhere to run - and he acted in a split second.
I really wish the parents of the girl who was about to get stabbed would hold a press conference and thank that officer for saving their daughters life.

even based on the Officer Cam. That shows me that there is no situation that some people aren't going to beeotch and moan about.
It is terrible that the girl died - but it would have been terrible too if the other girl died by stabbing.
