Shouldn't RPI be weighted

Towards what a team has done lately, as opposed to what they did at the beginning of the year? The coots started off hot, but they have lost 9 of 12 and are, frankly, not a very good team at all right now. Yet, in their slide, they have only dropped from 3-5. The formula needs to be tweaked. Also, it needs to be less important who you play and more important how you play.

How do you enter “how you play” into an algorithm?

Looks like 6 of the top 7 are SEC teams. Once you have that setup of incestuousness it’s nearly impossible to move up or down very much no matter if you win or lose. Their lowest ranked team is #79 and they have 9 of the top 23. It’s really the definition of confirmation bias.

The folks that are in charge of rankings have always down voted Clemson. They hate us because of our culture. You have to learn to live with it.

Who's giving the newbie all the TD's? Even though I'm a donor I can't see who's doing it.

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

The initial power rankings matter

before the first game is played. So, if you ranked a bunch of teams from one or two conferences and your team doesn't totally tank (see Louisville), then you'll stay high in the rpi.

There is no power ranking / human element it RPI. It is 25% your win percentage, 50% your opponents win percentage, 25% opponents’ opponents win percentage. A home win is .7 win a home loss is 1.3 wins. Road wins vice versa. Neutral site games 1:1. That’s it. It is what it is. There is none of the bias being implied in this thread. SCar is where the are because their losing skid has mostly been against two top 5 teams. We’re where we are because of the strength of the ACC. And, to the point in the original OP, why should there be a recency bias? What if a starting pitcher misses two series at the end of season but will be back for regionals? Why should those disproportionately count more than his wins?

Wouldn't you think so...
That makes way too much sense.
