I'm giving you the TU not the article. When stuff like this happens, it's just sad.

Re: for the record

Jul 21, 2021, 1:06 PM

What is sad about this situation? Rachel Nichols told the truth. The incident has been openly known within ESPN for quite a while. But It was kept quiet. Look at the timing. Someone leaked it to make Rachel Nichols look bad while simultaneously making Maria Taylor look good and as a victim during her XI tract negotiations. Predictably she asked for a ridiculous amount of money and ESPN said no. I’m actually shocked, but it shows that even ESPN knows that she’s not worth the money she was asking for. And now she will leave and go on to something bigger and better and make more money because of woke mainstream media and woke corporate America. So how is this sad? Maria Taylor‘s gonna come out smelling like a rose!

A bonus has been all the revelations about just how hypocritical, petty, and dysfunctional things are ESPN. Primarily because of their ultra liberal woke policies.

I think the most hilarious part of that recording was LeBron James’ white Jewish mentor saying he was tired of the BLM ######## ! Quite ironic given the fact that LeBron James loves to paint himself as a victim and rant against American oppression while getting rich in China!

And of course BLM predictably came out in support of the communist authoritarian dictatorship in Cuba rather than supporting the Cuban people being oppressed. People, by the way, of color, many of them of African heritage. We didn’t need any more evidence that BLM is full of #### and about politics and power and money, but this pretty much seals the deal! And of course the revelation that one of the Marxist founders of BLM is actually rich and owns a ton of real estate. How privileged and capitalist of her!

Actually, upon reflection, it might be even funnier and more ironic that ultra walk Rachel Nichols was bitching about BLM and antifa!

You can’t make this #### up man! This is why people on the left, the Democrats, the mainstream media, BLM, antifa, are all full of ####! Because they’re nothing but hypocrites! They’re cowards and hypocrites that love double standards and it just proves what I have been saying for decades. These people are using victimization, oppression, socialism and communism for power and money! Same with identity politics. Is stepping on the backs of people for the elites to get richer and more powerful! It has always been that way and will continue to be that way until people wake up and realize they’re being manipulated and used!

Typical far left loon. You know I am right. See what I did there?

Rather than try and debate me (there is no debate because everything I wrote is true) you resort to the default far left tactic of trying to marginalize me or the things that I wrote. Sadly it makes you look dumber and of course more manipulated and brainwashed!

There is no debating that. You do you

I fixed a bug where it would give a TU sometimes if you tried to do a TD. It was due to it defaulting to a TU if the vote didn't come through for some reason. But I don't see any way it could do the opposite now. Let me know if it happens again, thanks.

Re: Frankly I am a little surprised...

Jul 21, 2021, 1:24 PM

I’m actually surprised ESPN did not fire Rachel Nichols. I’m sure they wanted to, but she has a contract and they wanted to keep the Internet quiet. But with Maria Taylor’s contract ending someone leaked the recording to make Rachel Nichols look bad while simultaneously making Maria Taylor look good, which benefits her in her new contract negotiations. Predictably Maria Taylor asked for a ridiculous amount of money that she has not earned and is not worth and ESPN said no. They can’t justify paying her that much money while laying off hundreds of people. Even woke ESPN understands the optics to all of this.

The less obvious (to the general public) but bigger long-term issue for ESPN has been the revelations since then of the ugliness and bad blood and pettiness behind the scenes at ESPN. Largely because of their ultra liberal woke political views.

It is similar to what has been happening recently in regards to Hollywood. People coming out talking about Hollywood stars that virtue signal and pretend to be loving and inclusive and caring, but behind the scenes how ugly nasty and petty they are and how badly they treat the blue-collar hard-working people that actually make Hollywood run.

She did a good job with the things that she was doing, but you do have to question why she was getting some of the most plum assignments at ESPN when they are people more qualified and that had been there longer. But that’s how affirmative action works!

This drama is the most overblown thing I can remember...

Jul 21, 2021, 2:02 PM

As I understand it, this is the quote:

“I wish Maria Taylor all the success in the world—she covers football, she covers basketball,” Nichols said in the audio obtained by The New York Times. “If you need to give her more things to do because you are feeling pressure about your crappy longtime record on diversity—which, by the way, I know personally from the female side of it—like, go for it. Just find it somewhere else."

"You are not going to find it from me or taking my thing away," Nichols added.

Is that it? I've never seen anything else but maybe I'm missing it.

But if this is it, I cannot believe how blown up this is. In this quote, she speaks well of Maria, chastises her network for their track record on diversity, acknowledges that the network may feel Maria would be a good fit for a role in support of improving their efforts regarding diversity, and then defends her "turf".

What is the problem?

What do people who pressure businesses to improve their performance with diverse employees think will come of it? Isn't it THIS? The whole point is to make your voice heard so that companies understand that they are being watched with this stuff and will be judged accordingly. She's not saying Maria Taylor is unqualified...she's saying that they can do a lot with her because she covers multiple sports, so if they feel it's important to get a person of color a more prominent role, do it some place else.

Is she supposed to just role over and give up what she no doubt worked hard to get? Why would we ask anyone to do that?

I just don't understand why this is bad for her.
