I wish the young man well. But I think he made a mistake.
Something I've noticed, when players we want go elsewhere, it's like they never develop the way I'm pretty sure we could develop them. He'll probably have a pretty good college experience. But winning a championship? Being developed to play at the next level? Not real sure. Wonder who his head coach will be his last year there?

We won’t be done with him. Great players like to play for great teams.
We have all season to shine in front of him. Winning helps with recruiting. He has a chance to start immediately at UNC. That will not be the case in BV.

You guys are having a hard time grasping that this is not your daddy's Tar Heel program.
Top 10 program. Heisman caliber QB. Likely more returning starters than anyone in the country. Recruiting at a high level with three 5* DL in the last 3 cycles (Des Evans, Keeshawn Silver and now Shaw). And if you want to talk about developing players, they just had a great NFL draft that anyone would be envious of and they did it with Fedora's 3* recruits. Imagine how they'll develop these 4 and 5*'s they are bringing in?
This program is no longer minced meat. They are laying a very solid foundation and have the resources and $$$ to take it to the moon. Just look at their record level spending and fundraising.
Travis Shaw isn't coming here and he'll do just fine in Chapel Hill. You guys better wake up because UNC is becoming a real threat in the ACC.

I agree they aren't minced meat but they got lucky with Howell. Should be a great season for them but next year will be a big regression.

Lucky or not, he's been there going on 3yrs and it was the catalyst Mack needed to build what he has. Now they're becoming a big PITA for the rest of the ACC and are stockpiling a conference title's worth of talent.
Even up to last year, Mack has been largely running on Fedora era recruits. They're only going to get better and more consistent as they build depth and increase the overall talent pool. That's why I see them being pretty #### good this year, despite who they lost.

Props to him and the program. UNC did lose some very talented RB’s and WR’s to NFL. Will be interesting to see how Mack and Howell adapt.
And based on Mack’s age, and Bronco Mendenhall’s grit, I still expect UVA to give UNC and MiA all they want in the years ahead.
Still Clemson continues to compete unopposed in the ACC.

I think you are confusing program and seasonal expectations. UNC is not a top 10 program. They are ranked in this season's top 10. They have had some recruiting successes, but it's too early in the Mack Brown tenure to say that he has changed the program.
A top 10 program should show sustained success over several roster turnovers. Something that Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Georgia, and Notre Dame have done. UNC is just 3 seasons removed from back to back losing seasons, and only in the 3rd season of their coach's tenure. While Mack Brown has done a good job the are still only 15-10 with him as the head coach. They have potential to be good, but we'll see how they perform when they lose their QB or a few other key players. Maybe they continue to get better like we did, or they fall apart like FSU. It's too early to tell.
Mack Brown may also set a foundation for UNC, but we will see where the program goes in a few years when he retires. He's already 69 so he probably only has 4 or 5 years left in him. Coaching over 70 is still fairly rare, and it is nearly unheard of for any coach to have a better winning percentage when older than 70 than when younger than 70. Mack Brown has a carrier winning percentage of .662 so if history is any guide he will likely drop below that for the remainder of his carrier, but even if he bucks the trend and stays even, it's still an average of 8-4 seasons. That's good enough to make UNC troublesome, but I wouldn't expect them to make a significant impact on the future football landscape.

Also, not that it really matters, but you have the name "DanielIslandTig" and "here" to refer to Clemson, and "they" to refer to UNC. So it seems that you are you referring to yourself as a Clemson fan, yet you have 13 posts in 2 years and as far as I can see they are all about UNC or replies to topics about UNC. It just appears suspicious as if you are really a UNC fan masquerading as a Clemson fan.

I wish we landed him, but I think UNC is a solid place to go. Great school. Good coaching. On the rise as a team on the field. In his home state. He will be starting quicker. He has a better chance at a championship with Clemson and Dabo, but he didn't make a bad call. They make the playoff before he is out of there. He will start as a freshman. Its not like he picked a dud like the Gamecocks.

I don’t know if u had a typing error or what but UNCheat Will NOT make a playoff before Shaw leaves, or after. I’m sorry(not really) but they may be able to beat a team of Clemson caliber once in a blue moon- but not consistently… only way they make playoffs is with expansion. Tarholes still, and always will be a basketball school. Look for FreeShoesUniversity to be “back” before tarholes “arrive”.
