Serious question-Recruiting Classes

Jan 1, 2017, 2:38 PM

Aside from the cheating jokes, how is it possible that

Alabama has taken in 14,15,16 and 17 recruiting classes a total of 101 new recruits while Clemson has taken only 83?

How does Bama take big classes every year? Does Saban cut some loose every year to stay under 85?

Yep, SEC schools cut guys loose in various ways...maybe

someone can help me understand how they get around the APR thingy with that.

The way we do it is develop guys, not run them off. Think about guys like BJ Goodson, Spencer Shuey, Jadar Johnson, Joe Gore, Kevin Dodd, Marcus Edmunds, etc. Guys that toil for 3+ years, then boom get their shot and produce big time. I like our way better. Don't get me wrong I love the Christmas Day feeling of NSD, but I also enjoy seeing those guys that have worked for several years, then get their chance and step up. We have guys on our roster that people have either forgotten about of have been written off that will step up next year. Happens every year without fail.

They cut players that do not pan out and they do not redshirt like we do. Dabo will not cut a kid if he does not workout. He thinks it's the coaches responsibility to evaluate properly.

They oversign, cut, and yank schollies. It's not right and

it ought to be an "outside the lines" segment. But it's the SEC and ESPN we are talking about here.

Ok, but why are we two under?

Renfrow and Huegel were walk-ons

Then got scholarships. I think Schuessler was like that too.

That's only 16 more than full

They probably had that many leave early for the NFL, transfer, get kicked off the team, etc.
