Serious Question: brandon mcilwain
Feb 5, 2016, 12:05 AM
|
|
Coots pretty much everywhere have laid all their eggs in the basket of this QB (no pun intended). I don't know much about BM other than he that he is a really good baseball player.
What exactly is it about his QB game that I don't know? Is he really good? has he put up eye popping numbers in high school?
Coots seems to think he is the answer to all their woes, he is the next Watson (laughable). Some of those delusional chickens truly believe he can take them to 8-10 wins next season. They truly believe a true freshman will come in a team devoid of offensive weapons and shoddy O-line coupled with unproven OC and take them to a big season.
Please tell me what am I missing here?

They felt the same way about Conner Mitch and Lorenzo Nunez. But you see how that turned out. I do think that McIlwain could be better than them but shoot that's just going by potential. That program is set up for failure. He should've entered the MLB draft and live a rich life instead of playing football for a trash factory...talk about a downgrade

His film looks good. I think he could be a really good college qb if they run the right system a lot of Russell Wilson in him. Hope he does well. It makes our victory over them even better.

I may be in minority but I wish they lose every single game. I want them to be so bad they pack up that entire joke of a football program.

The worse they are the better. The more they are humiliated the better. The Citadel loss was great. The more of those the better.

he ain't no DW4. A decent QB on a 3 win team with no real "impact" players signed so maybe they win 5-6 next year. 8- 10? Rubbish. What are they putting in the water in Cootlumbia these days?

Good size, good arm, good mobility. He HAS to be better than what they got. Hat's off for forgoing MLB to play CFB. Seems like ours always go baseball when drafted.

it is unlikely he would make the three-deep or four-deep at Clemson.
Clemson will have four QB's on its roster, all of whom are rated higher than young Mr. McIlwain.
Plus $CU lacks the skill players to compliment him.
Nothing against the young man. Those are just the facts.
Even with an easier schedule, expecting to win 8 to 9 games in 2016 is simply grandiose delusions and over-exaggerated optimism which is typical for $CU fans. The reality is, they'll struggle to win six games.

The more I read your moranic posts, the more I get why you're so obsessed with all things Clemson.
It must truly suck to be you, your rival lives in your head 24/7.
What's sad is that your presence here is tolerated by the mods. You're delusional. You add nothing to serious discussion about football. To even suggest that McIlwain is somehow comparable to the talent we have shows you understanding nothing about the game.

I know Gamecocks who are rational and fully admit they don't measure up talent-wise to us. In fact, the talent differential is about as wide as it's ever been for the last decade, if you count this class.
This moran isn't worth arguing with. She doesn't know squat about football. Mods should take out the trash.

Considering McIlwain was an elite 11 QB and neither bryant, israel or cooper were there is a pretty good argument he's at least comparable in talent.
Actually that means he's more like Deshaun and less like the others.
But don't let facts get in the way of a good orange tinted argument.

Because he's not on the same level as Cooper, Israel and Bryant. Doesn't have the measurables, physical attributes, etc., he's only 5'11"...that's a joke. Israel still holds the record for most yards ever completed in FL high school history. What record is it that McIlwain holds again? Please remind me.

Watson - Yes. Bryant - depends on which service you use, basically a draw. Israel - No. Cooper - depends on which service you use, basically a draw.
I'm not saying I would trade any of ours for him. Bryant is electric running the ball. Cooper's highlights are amazing.

lousy schedule. Out of conference games with ECU (who has a 1st year coach), UMass, Western Carolina, and traveling to DV. Out of that group they go 3-1 with the loss being to their daddy (no not the Citadel).
Their toughest conference games are at Mississippi State, Georgia and Tennessee at home and then at Florida. I think they'll get lucky enough to win one of those, probably being MSU without Prescott, so in that group I say they go 1-3.
That brings their record to 4-4.
Easy conference games are at Vandy, at Kentucky, TAMU at home, and Mizzou at home. They could easily sweep these 4 games to get to 8 wins. I know Kentucky has had their number but that won't continue, and TAMU is in complete disarray and on the verge of spiraling completely out of control. At worst I think they split this grouping and go 2-2.
So 6-8 wins sounds right. Also, as a side note, look at that horrendous schedule and remember it next time one of your "coot co-workers" or "coot friend" or "coot relative" starts running their mouth about A she she this and A she she that. Clemson is by far the toughest game on their schedule. 2nd toughest is Tennessee who lost 4 games last year.

me. The coots are going to have an immediate improvement and their schedule sucks. 6-8 wins.

No serious thoughts on the coot quarterback, don't care. He is not going to be happy there with cuss champ tells him he can't play baseball anymore.

He has said in interviews when asked about his priorities between football and baseball that his focus is going to be on baseball. It is very hard to play baseball and football at the same time. Very few people have ever done it at a high level.
His future is also very likely in baseball. If he has a good baseball season he is expected to be a first round draft prospect. That will push his focus even more toward baseball.

It was made clear that Baseball would be his priority when he chose not to wait on the MLB Draft and start college in January .Right now, while he should be learning the play book and working on timing with WR's , he's playing Baseball.
Before anyone mentions Parker or Winston, they both redshirted in football their freshman years.

Odds are mightily stacked against him that he can play successfully at this level.
