to me, that a saber tooth tiger wiped out an entire tribe of the ancestors of the Occaneechi tribe, on the exact location of the Dean Dome around 12,000 years ago. The Occaneechi ancestors prayed to their pagan gods to curse the Tiger and saber tooth Tigers vanished from the face of the earth shortly thereafter and have been cursed in perpetuity at that location.....that is the only possible explanation.
