Serious ques for the knowledgeable baseball fans..

Our record is excellent, esp if you take out opening weekend. That said, it seems like we often have a more difficult schedule. I'm basing that on top 25 teams alone. So.. are we as food as the record and rankings indicate? Or should a be prepared for significant fall off as we get deeper into our ACC schedule? Thanks!

I like the Dabo approach, one game at a time. Why worry about games in May,or post season when you still have a full slate of games in April.

The schedule gets tougher no doubt with a series in Tally, a home series vs a VT team that beat FSU in a series just after FSU took over the #1 ranking. Series at FSU, then another top 25 team comes to Tiger town in Wake Forest who is #23 right now. Back on the road after that in Chapel Hill top 5 opponent on the road will be tough. Then Louisville coming up after Nevada then last years national champs in Coastal Carolina comes to TT for a game, with a series at NCST to end the season but headed to Louisville for the ACC tourney.
Short answer, yes I would expect for some more losses most top 8 (super regional teams) have 40 wins in the regular season. Clemson is 25-5 right now with 26 games remaining, I wouldnt expect alot of sweeps but more series wins, and a couple series losses. UNC and Louisville will be extremely tough series as well as FSU.
We should be good as long as the pitching continues to hold up and nobody gets injured. Hopefully non of the arms get tired and we still have Gilliam, Crawford, and Henny going full speed ahead come the end of May. Good news is now with Byrd solidified in the starting line up behind Greene making it four Clemson starters hitting over .300 (Pinder, Williams, Byrd, and Rohlman) with Beer hitting and making his average going up and up soon enough he and Cox will be up above .300 making it six starters over .300 which would be about average for a team going to Omaha. Barnes and Krall continue to dominate with great starts once again this weekend. Eubanks was on fire more then both those guys but he had a poor start this weekend, hopefully he can bounce back vs the Hokies this weekend.

We seem to play well in Tally for some reason. We'll lose a series somewhere along the line. Possibly at UNC. I still believe we'll be around 22-8, 21-9 in the conference. Outside of a collapse, we are set up for a regional, super regional at Clemson. SOS should be Top 5 by the end of the regular season. If Beer gets it really going, look out

Here is the real answer. Those same teams are thinking "Crap, 4th ranked Clemson is our next opponent, do we have team that can take a series". Louisville and UNC are definitely going to be tough, but Monte is a great coach and he has great pitching. See y'all at the VT series on Friday!!!!

^^^Add to that - CLEMSON is the defending ACC Champion and has been on a tear since the end of last season. We don't seem to be cooling off very much, and our pitching has improved IMO. Less errors and better base-running, and often times the bats are hot. Other teams probably are nervous when we come to town.

Second half will be tougher than the first...

Series at FSU, at UNC, at NCSU, plus Wake and L'ville at home ... that's 4-5 teams that should be hosting regional right there!
I like the looks of this team, and if we finish the second half anywhere close to the first, a national seed would be in order.

Wake and NCST arent going to be hosting a regional. Only 16 teams host and WF is #23 right now while NCST is unranked.

Toughest part of schedule starting now for most teams ...

We almost certainly won't win as many from this point on ... but, the good news is that weve already taken a series from two Top-25 teams in UVA and SCAR, so that bodes well for our capabilities against the rest of the schedule.
If we can find 15 wins in the next 26 games to get to 40-16, we'll host a regional and maybe a super regional as well.
I like our chances!

42-14 regular season record. Just a guess for the fun of it.
