Seat Equity 2023

Dec 5, 2022, 9:12 PM

FYI....Iptay is increasing the seat equity dues moving into 2023. I wish we could have real seats (not the 30 year old aluminum bench) for what we pay in minimum seat equity. Time for a renovation Clemson, please improve the seats. We pay a premium and need some upgrades. Way overdue...

I would gladly pay an increase if seating was improved in the lower sections.

All seats should be replaced. Not just the lower sections. Heck. I sit in the "lower section" and my seat should not be replaced if the upper section seats are not replaced. Everybody that buys a ticket should have a decent seat from which to watch the game. A concrete bench is not a decent seat.

I have been emailing IPTAY asking about it, no response. They need to take care of the mainstays who come to the games because we care, not to entertain guests in suites. I hope IPTAY can help soon. It's ridiculous, uncomfortable and outdated. I'm glad you feel the same way I do. I've been sitting on those benches for decades, time for Clemson to make an investment.

The problem with this is capacity. If we were to got to individual seats like they have in Charlotte, it would take more room per seat. I don’t know what the reduction would be but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was around 4000 seats. That’s too much ticket money for the AD to give up. Also, I’ve been to lots of stadiums around the southeast. We are pretty much similar to other schools. At least we have more leg room than the Panthers stadium. Not to mention Tennessee. I swear that place would only seat 85- 90k if they had the same amount of room we have at Clemson.

I think I’m giving mine up. They moved us down in west end zone to make room for the new club. Now we sit behind the visiting band and their tubas. Couldn’t see the score board much less the field at the South Carolina game. Been IPTAY and season ticket holder since I graduated in the 80’s. I get it and am not sore about it. Now that all games are on TV I can see it better and save the $s for vacation. And can still tailgate ?

Real seats would be nice for the fans. Yes, there would be a loss of seats, add those back somewhere else there are places you could add them in. Lastly, number the seats 1,2 3, 4 and so forth. I personally know some folks who are ushers at the games and the even numbered seats on one side and odd numbered seats on the other side of the aisle is confusing to a lot of fans. This person has told me people want to argue with them that they are wrong (the usher) in the section I sit in I have had to help a many a person find their seat due to this odd/even numbering of seats. People will see seat 2,4,6 .... and claim well 3 and 5 are right here, they just did not put a number there. Honestly it happens, and I am not talking senior citizens either.

I feel your pain. My family sat behind the band and tubas, Clemson band, at Ga Tech game. 6 of my family drove 8 hours each way and I spent $800 to buy tickets. I've been IPTAY member since 57...my Dad played for Frank Howard, not that it means anything. Since I retired my parking can't keep up with IPTAY increases. If I weren't a Life Member the seat equity would have already driven me out.
I believe their business plan is to drive out the older IPTAY members to get their parking and tickets. Replace those that only have a few years left and replace with those that have a 30 year + horizon. Jmo.

If IPTAY truly wants input

Dec 5, 2022, 11:29 PM

Modernize seating. Louisville Cardinals Papa John Stadium had individual seats and they are not even required to pay thousands for parking. It is the final upgrade needed for their fans but they will only use that as a “benefit” for new seat sections. However they will now start immediately tearing up the trees in the parking lot behind West Endzone and invest in better pavement. I fully agree IPTAY buy individual seats not high school bleachers that you promise anyone who does not fit will need to buy two bleacher seats. Fix this last ridiculous stadium feature. Also on wish list like Panther Stadium are speakers on each upper deck section and speakers all around sky box rim between upper and lower deck. Provided great experience in Charlotte. For those that will respond with link to Iptay feedback do not worry they have all of these already.

Agree 100%. I find Clemson is more worried about money, not legacy supporters, alumni or folks who supported them when they were 3-8 under Tommy West. It is all about big money and sponsorships. I don't mind paying a premium for seat equity of there upgrades to seating. They spend money on everything else around the stadium except the actual seating.

I could care less if there are 2-4K less people in the stands honestly. With the new sound system that you can hear from Seneca the crowd is muted.

Re: Seat Equity 2023

Another reason people are giving up season tickets is there is no railing above the portals in the lower deck. As you age, you need a railing mainly coming back down the stadium steps. Somebody is going to have a big fall one day. I have asked about it for years but can’t be done with narrow aisles and thus lose seats if you do.

Much more likely it goes the other way, like Neyland

Dec 6, 2022, 10:12 AM

Stadium. Butts suddenly got narrower a few years ago, increasing capacity with the same bleacher square footage.

You would lose at least 2-4 seats per row, at least. Can you imagine the nightmare that re-assigning seats would be? The bitching would be epic.
