Screw the ACC, we need to ask how this helps Clemson

MONEY: Clemson will get a bump in the TV contract of at least $1M per year. Until/unless ND comes on as a full member, the ACC TV contract won't compare to the other "Big 4" conferences.

SCHEDULE: Clemson will get one home game vs ND once every six years, and will lose a home game to travel to ND once every six years. I don't know how much a home game is worth to Clemson, but if the bump in the TV contract is $1M per team, then essentially losing a home game is worth $6M once every six years.

BOWLS: If ND is within one loss of Clemson, a bowl may pick ND over Clemson. Look at the Chick-fil-a bowl, do you think they'll take Clemson or ND given the opportunity? Will the ACC really be able to add new substantial bowl partners now that ND is on board?

BCS: If ND gets it's tie-in with the Orange Bowl, then essentially the Atlantic and Coastal divisions will be playing a large play-in game in Charlotte to take on ND in Miami. Will a possible ND rematch be worth it?

BASKETBALL: Going to 15 teams means an odd layout for the basketball tournament. Hello Larry Shyatt Invitational!

EXIT FEE: $50M means Clemson isn't going anywhere without substantial help from it's suitor conference (SEC). It also means Clemson has no leverage now or down the road if the conference continues to steer away from big time football.

So sure, this all looks good on paper for Clemson and the ACC, but in ten years from now what will we say the impact of ND joining the ACC was?

I may be wrong but weren't you argueing not long ago for better out of conference games (home and away)and loose the cup cakes. And do you not think the conference will be stronger if ND becomes a full member in 2016.
