Scott OC/WR; Streeter QB coach; Elliott RB/Recruiting

Nov 30, 2014, 6:10 PM

Scott knows the current offense, calls plays as OC, stays as WR coach where he has done such an incredible job. Brandon Streeter comes in as QB coach, starts to learn this offense (the Richmond offense appears to be similar, but with less running QB). Elliott stays as RB coach, takes over as Recruiting Coordinator.

In 3-4 years when Scott is a hot commodity after having had successful offenses (I'm an optimist), and gets called up to be a head coach somewhere, Streeter steps in as OC )he is OC at Richmond) and they start grooming someone else (Elliott?) to step up when Streeter moves up somewhere.

It's just a thought.

Time to add a new and different set of eyes from another organization and thought process. Lincoln Riley from East Carolina via Texas Tech would be a good fit since he understands and has been very successful with the fast paced read option offenses. Could hit the ground running without having to teach a completely new scheme!

Think about it...

Do you think Jeff Scott would stay here and work under a coordinator that is younger than him with no ties to Clemson - Lincoln Riley (ECU)? If Dabo does this, we likely lose Scott to SMU as their OC and screw up our recruiting class in the process. J. Scott or someone more seasoned than him at another school is the best bet here.

Why?

Just saying something won't work is no response. I could just as easily say "Yes it will." Give a reason.

Scott will get his audition in the bowl game

I'm assuming chad will not be there of course. He may make a good oc but if he is promoted I think we need to bring in an older coach that has experience calling plays as some type of position coach. Scott would still need some help/advice and it would be good to have someone that has been there before on staff.
