So dirty myrtle didn't disappoint.
The people watching was the absolute best.
Friday night when we got down there we ordered from McDonald's.
For $30 we got the family pack and 40 nuggets. Cheap and great. One thing I did learn is that door dash drivers are RUDE in restaurants. Dude came in demanding his order right now. Manager lady had obviously had enough because she held it up far enough away where he couldn't grab it and told him she called him 45 minutes ago to come get this order and it's not her problem he waited so long.
Saturday we spend the entire day on the sand. Got yelled at by the lifeguard because I put our umbrella up in front of somebody who paid the unsightly fee for the umbrellas on the beach. Flexing.
So many tattoos. So many awful tattoos. So many trashy people. I even saw a dude with a tramp stamp.
Went back to the pool that evening and the people who were in front of us were there. Dude was stewed to the gills and was hugging everybody. He bought me a beer. He was from Austin Texas.
Then I went back up to the beach bar to order some mixed drinks and a dude from Virginia mistook me for some guy who saved his life in the water and bought all of my drinks. I went along with it.
Then we tried ordering food from grubhub. The bank froze my card because they thought it was fraud. Got that fixed, then grubhub wouldn't order because Mellow Mushroom was swamped. So I ordered from the restaurant in the hotel. I ordered 2 large pizzas.
Get the order, $50. Ok no problem, I know it's going to be more ordering on site.
Get back to the room and it's 2 tiny flatbreads.
within 10 minutes, I was physically removed from the restaurant and threatened to be arrested.
So all in all, it was a good vacation weekend.

I was talking to the dockmaster at Toler's Cove Friday; he said there is a big tournament in Edisto this weekend and they are asking for some extra space out of Toler's for some of the tournament boats.
So the tournament is *officially* out of Edisto...but the boats are really fishing out of Charleston?

Thats why Sullivan's sand bar, Capers, behind morris island and even no name are perfect. I get bored, i can just start messing with the boat or something.

While we're at it, let's include every single beach on the east coast north of Miami.
TRDJ wants to get into the water. He don't trust salt water too dirty to see into.
Brown sand is shidsand.
FL panhandle, FL west coast below Tampa, Miami, and points south. The rest are hot garbage.
Gimme sand like cocaine, gimme water like a pool.

Greenr will become a bigger fan of Edisto. It isn't super close family, but it might be close enough to get the family discount on a summer week and maybe some weekends throughout the year.
Up to now, I have spent one week there and it wasn't anything exceptional, but it WAS far AF away from everything and a 17 year old Greenr didn't appreciate that. 40 year old Greenr would love that though.

I ain't tryna say that Edisto is the best beach in the world (clearly it's not, it sucks, don't go there) but it was/is the last of the uncrowded spaces on the barrier islands within driving distance of mi casa.
And when I go away for a vaca/long weekend I am looking to GTF away from people, not find a crowd to be in/around. This is going away as a draw for Edisto as well, but it is still by far less crowded than all the other beach options. I won't even consider driving to Folly/IOP/Sullivans.
Typical weekend recreation is usually some sandbar on the boat anyway, but if'n i'm going to the beach here it's going to be the least crowded one i can find.

This is the most common argument that people use for why Edisto is so great. I gotta tell ya, I've been going to North Myrtle Beach (specifically Crescent Beach) my entire life. Sure it is more crowded now than it used to be, but not once have I ever had a problem with too many people there on the beach. And the beach and the water there are FAR superior to Edisto. No contest IMO.
And when I go away for a vaca/long weekend I am looking to GTF away from people, not find a crowd to be in/around. This is going away as a draw for Edisto as well, but it is still by far less crowded than all the other beach options.

Seemed like a great idea until I figured out it would take me 1.5 minimum for a trip to Lowe's to get a piece of PVC or box of nails from Home Depot, or a #1 combo from CFA.
