Why in the world with a 1st and 10 at their 30, driving like

crazy running and throwing, do we do a trick play in which a player that is not even the QB throws the ball all the way to the endzone. I am all for Dabo, and he can't help 6 turnovers, but that was a bonehead play call.

Humphries was open initially and Sammy was told not to overthrow him in practice, because that was sammy's tendency.

Humphries was open until he got to the end zone. Sammy just didn't get it done.

The ball was moving down the field just fine without the trick call

I'll bet all my assets that the call came from OC. Before the game a top rate coach would say what he wanted/didn't want re trick [plays. Dabo does not understand that he needs to control, run and strategize for this team. The OC, DC and other coaches are the executioners of his strategies, plans etc.

Exactly what I thought. Use a trick play when other plays are not working. When the D is on their heels and everything you are doing is working why try that? Also, we showed it already once this year so they likely planned for it and just like the last time, sammy is not a good passer. Last time was even uglier...
That one is one the coaches.

Sammy should have been prepared before asking him to do that

If you give him the ball... He has to read the safety and not throw a pop fly. Not teaching that set him up for failure. Dumb call, worse preparation.
At least Sammy touched the ball. One of the best players ever and we can not / will not get him the ball. Too few touches all year for a great, IMO.
