Copper River Grill

Met my parents there (Greer) for Mother's Day dinner. I hadn't eaten there in years. A quick review with a chance of adopted Charleston snobbery leaking out:
-This place is highly overrated and overpriced for the quality. -First told it was a 45 minute wait, which makes me wonder W T F is wrong with all the other places to eat in Greer. Turned into a 25 minute one once people left. -You don't have to wear a mask in there, apparently. Not really important. Just an observation. Maybe that's a Greer thing. -Overcooked my rib eye. Asked for medium rare, got pretty done in some areas, somewhat medium in others. It's not hard to get a rib eye right. -Service was especially slow. It was worth it to just eat the steak than wait all that time for another one. -Server didn't know what was on tap. Referred me to the beer list, which vaguely told me what was on tap. -You can have a good conversation in there if you scream at your companions or have one of those hearing devices that's lets the old man awkwardly hear his daughter talking about condoms in the commercial. -Picked up the bill. Dinner for four shouldn't cost that much at a place like that. Could get a better meal in the Charleston area for less than that. -During the wait to be seated, Dad joked that we could go to the Hardee's next door. In hindsight... -The honey butter croissant rolls are ####### phenomenal, though. So, just go there and order beer and croissants.

Heard over the weekend about a place operating at 100% capacity with 50% staff.
Waited way too long for a pizza over the weekend.
The staffing shortage isn’t some political boogey man, it’s real and it’s hurting everyone.

If they were short staffed, they didn't feel short staffed. And it wasn't super crowded by the time we started getting served.
Unless there's something going on in the kitchen that I couldn't see.

as my neighbor, who owns a restaurant said, they don't have time to train them properly before putting them to work. he also said that many decide real quick that sitting on their butts collecting unemployment is a lot easier than working so they quit after the first paycheck.

Is the one in Greer super dark inside too? I've only

been to the one in Seneca, but it's like walking into a cave or something. Even the outside seating is somehow dark and uncomfortable. Probably the worst atmosphere of any restaurant I've been to.
All restaurants seem like they're on the verge of being too expensive to eat at very often.

And not surprised poor service given Mother’s Day and ramping up from pandemic slowdown.
Limited expectations lead to fewer disappointments as a general rule. And unanticipated good outcomes.

Step your game up and go to California Dreaming next time. Went Saturday and everything was perfect. Same croissant roll.

Sick to salads and croissants and you'll never be sad.

any price. People seem to love 'em though, else they wouldn't be so crowded and so loud. Just don't understand why anybody wants to go to a place where everybody has to bellow at the top of their lungs the whole time. Last time I went to Texas Roadhouse my throat was raw from yelling and I was hoarse the next day.

I know the feeling. I had to endure sub par (that's being nice) Mexican on Sparkle City's west side. But whata ya gonna do? Mom wanted Mexican. The good company made up for the food.

I read the title 3 times before I realized it was "Copper"

and not "Cooper", hence why I was having trouble understanding why there was a Cooper River Grille in Greer.
