Sadly Saw Tom Weisskopf triple putt & lose at Masters 18th

b/c he stepped back from winning putt due to a disturbing noise from the gallery..

and then proceeded to triple putt to lose his hoped for 1st Masters. A sad day to see while in attendance from just 25' away!

Was that around mid '70's?

He lost to another Bucknut, Jack Nicklaus.

Tom Terrific made a 13 on No. 12 during the 1980 Masters. Hit five balls in the water. He was definitely The Volcano that day.

It is three putt not triple putt. Not a golfer are you Bill.

I was fortunate enough to go in 1974.

Went with a college roommate on Saturday and Sunday. Gary Player won that year. I was standing on the spectator mound to the left of 17th green (it is now a grandstand) when he hit his second hot to a foot to give him a 2 stroke lead heading into 18.

For any golfer, if you are ever fortunate enough to get to go, you will never forget it. Every year I watch it (next year will be the 50th anniversary of my trip) I see something that reminds me, "I remember when I was there..."

Sorry, I don't remember the year you are speaking of, but I think it was prior to 74.

that "noise"

was the steps of a bear. Well documented. Caved to pressure, didn't have champion "it" factor.
