Apologies if already discussed.

He said he was looking for players with character/class.

Dec 20, 2022, 12:07 PM

Wouldn't they want to play for or looking for a coach with the same character/class?

Definitely would think so.***

Well, he is a character. Not sure about the class part.

I could possibly get behind Sander's message if it was truly interpreted as shape up or ship out, but it seems as though he is not giving any of the CO players the chance to shape up. He is running them off without consideration.

Some of us have been complaining about athletes bailing on their obligation to the university program. What about when the university program bails on its obligation to the athletes.

Those are not two words that come to mind when someone says Deion Sanders.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Sad to say, but that is the next iteration. If the players

Dec 20, 2022, 12:07 PM

have no loyalty to the schools, then it is no longer encumbent on the schools to show loyalty to underperforming players.

Now, "Oversign and Cull" has been an established practice in the SEC for years, Coach Prime just raised the stakes by saying he wasn't going to accept the dregs left over from the previous regime.

Dec 20, 2022, 12:12 PM

season id get the hoopla ...but hes just coming in..its understandable he doesnt want the last coaching staffs players..he wants to build with players he deems good to run his system..in todays college ball with the portal he can somewhat do that

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: if this was sanders second

Dec 20, 2022, 2:50 PM

Nobody disputes the fact that primeTime has the right to do this. But like anything in life, one can go about their business with class or with no class.

If I was a 2024 high school recruit there’s no way I would look at Colorado. It appears he will operate a program that is almost all portal players, mostly free agency.

Probably a good way to build a team for a year. Probably not a good way to build a program.

Maybe the BOT in Boulder is OK with that; they gotta get back on the map.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Makes me pull against him more.

Would expect nothing less from Prime Time. Just my opinion but i believe CO will regret that hire in a few years.

IF they have been granted a scholarship it is from Colorado not some flimflam artist from an insurance commercial...will be interesting to see how many scholarship players actually lose a ticket from Colorado and what he is going to fill their spot with! Prime may already be out to lunch!

Doubt it. They will make a lot more money and be very competitive. They just won 1 game this year. The university will be loving it.

Re: 13 Colorado recruits have already lost scholarship.

Dec 20, 2022, 12:58 PM

The worst part is the AD calling them individually telling them their scholarships would be honored and to please NOT decommit.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't like it, but it matches the transfer portal.

Dec 20, 2022, 1:01 PM

If players can leave on a whim and play for your rival months later, then coaches are going to adjust accordingly. The whole thing is a mess. College football really is broken, but the entertainment value is keeping people in place. But the soul and the future of college football is already dead. We are just in denial because we love it so much.

So Deion Sanders is going to make Colorado the first college pro team?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not uncommon when a staff changes

Dec 20, 2022, 3:02 PM

It's just being blown out of proportion in a negative way because it's Deion Sanders. You think the new staff is supposed to just keep all of the recruits offered by the previous staff? The new staff doesn't know anything about those kids, and there are higher caliber guys lining up to come there now.

One of the kids said a coach didn't even call to tell him. Some random person called, said his offer was no longer valid, then they hung up.

Now that is pathetic. You can at least tell a kid why and what you saw on film and what to work on.

Yeah, they’re unarguably one of the WORST programs in FBS football. He said “I’m coming” at least 50 times when talking to the Colorado players for first time. He warned them. It needed to happen.

Here is an eye-opening article on how scholarships can be rescinded in many different situations, not just the direct question that was asked, including a new coach coming in.
The response is addressed to student-athletes, but informative for anyone who reads it (it's not a hyperlink):

It's a cold world. Makes one appreciate Clemson and our coaches for their integrity & dedication to our kids and their futures

A couple years from now the Buffs will likely regret hiring primetime.

He’s building a team to win some games while he and his son are there. Then gone.

He is not building a program.

Colorado was 1-11 this year. What did y'all expect him to do? Continue down that path?

Nah, Deion wants to win and he needs some talent and that wasn't what he needed to win with. It might seem cruel, but it was necessary.

and disgrace the schools reputation by going back on its word like that. It seems a good man would give them a chance to learn and perform for at least one year. He at least should have talked with them about other offers and tried to assist them in finding other places to play.

Deion needs prayer, imo.
