Rubberized end court needed

Feb 11, 2022, 9:41 AM

The "endzone" of each court, just off the fair playing area (hard court) should be made of rubberized, soft landing material, as they have at playgrounds now. I've seen enough landings in this area (such as the Collins hit) to believe this should be done on all courts. Not that hard to do. I know - old schoolers ideas not welcome, and hey, I played on it and landed on it too, all years of HS and college, but it would be a great and common sense change. I liken it somewhat to the goalposts in football - remember? they used to be at the goal line, but were moved back AND padding added at the base, for similar reasons I am talking about.

That’s smart. I like it.

Still do not see the logic of having the goal post in the field of play. Just looks strange and dangerous. Would have definitely brought in more pic options at the goal line. Like playing against 12 on defense. The rubber idea is a good one for sure.

If you do that might as well get the fans off that front row that sits on the floor too, Only a matter of time before someone gets hurt or knocked out.

No chance. That's how people blow out their knees. They have one of those at MUSC and people blow their knees out more often there due to court having so much grip. I did it. That's what they told me there. They said it was a problem there.

Not following you at all

The playing court remains hardwood. The area off the ends where players land a lot from hard fouls - rubberized layer there.

Ok...So you are saying not on the court as all and not even on the baseline when they are inbounding the ball. If it is further off that could make sense I guess. I thought original post was talking about that last whatever amount of space around the rim.

Yep

I mean, look at the Collins play, perfect example. Bigger, faster athletes, more momentum than even before - carries players into endzone out-of-play area where they land. Pros happens as much or more. No need for that area to be "hardwood". Lots of injuries occur there out of high-flying / collision plays.

floor. It was literally as hard as concrete, but shinier.

Ouch.
