Roku

Dec 22, 2016, 6:01 PM

I have an old Roku (5-6 years) that I think has crapped the bed. Playback on it stinks even with a strong signal. I couldn't watch the end of the basketball game last night and definitely need an upgrade before the 31st!

Anybody have any reccomendations on the multiple models that are available now? Pros, cons, differences, etc.?

In my best TigerNet lingo... TIA in advance

I would go amazon firetv box, not the stick. Kodi is amazing. Don't have to be a computer geek, just follow a 10 min YouTube tutorial. The reason I say firetv box instead of stick is the stick has lower processing power. ESPN3 buffers at least 5 times per game. It never does on my iPad so I know that it's not my internet

Remember Napster before the lawsuit? Kodi is a $40 version of that

It won't be around in the format that it's in now very long.

I have a roku 4. Works fine once I upgraded my internet package.

I pay $90/mo for that crap so it better not be!

Hmmm? $90 seems excessive to me, unless you're doing some heavy internet processing. I have Charter internet and pay $60/mth for 60 MBS. How fast is your internet?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

its xfinity (Comcast). One of their higher packages

Dec 22, 2016, 8:39 PM

Because we have four kids on it

No idea how fast I take is

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well, that sucks

I am paying $70 for 3 mbs. That's right, 3 mbs. I live out in the sticks, no cable service and a long distance from the Century Link box. Any ideas how I can obtain a higher mbs?

The Roku Premiere+ is great. Especially if you have a 4K tv
