Rock vandalism is a good thing, here's why

Glass is half full here...
Any press is good press in this instance. CFB community is talking about it brings more notoriety to the tradition. It is still in decent shape, thus the legend of the rock lives on and in a more storied way. Besides, the damage could have been much worse.
Sure I want the person who did it to be caught if they are a coot or something, but what if the person who did it was some nut job Tiger fan wanting some special kind of keep-sake? That would be embarrassing and make me upset.

Here is why...If you come into my house and destroy my possessions, even if they are replaced with something better, I still feel violated. You took something of mine and you have no right.
It is the same for Howard's Rock, no matter the press, they took something of ours, and that ain't ever right. It is our pride, our tradition, our history, and no one outside of our Clemson family has any business messing with it.
To paraphrase Coach Howard, "Keep your filthy hands off our rock". No publicity is worth that.

This is disappointing and I wish it hadn't happened, but it did. I am all fore beefing up security to ensure this wont happen again, but I am just pointing out the fact that sometimes there is a silver lining that cant be seen initially. Just imagine if Auburn's Toomers Corner trees would had survived -Their legend would be even greater. I never heard of that tradition until the poisoning. I'm sad for Auburn's loss, there's was a total. Ours is not.

There is a LOT positive about this event. Think of it this way .... there are those who try to destroy our Clemson and it's many storied traditions, but at best, all they could accomplish was a small chip from our greatest show piece. In the dark of night, those evil haters of Clemson and all its greatness could only put a small ding in our armour. Nice try ... but it didn't work. GO TIGERS
