Robert is a GROWN man!

Oct 11, 2012, 5:46 AM

He looks like a grown man. He talks like a grown man. He is a very intelligent guy. I don't think anyone is capable of "pressuring" him into a decision. Momma is Momma. We all have one. And, she is obviously a very intelligent person, too. Robert's whole family is smart.

At some point, though, he's GOING to make a big decision on his own. This is one of those decisions that he probably knows a little more about than Mom. He's been to Clemson. He knows that he wants to be set up to go pro, while playing on a team that can do something VERY special. He also knows that he is the keystone of this recruiting class. Clemson NEEDS him, and will utilize him in a way that gets Clemson where they need to be, while at the same time showcases his unique abilities.

Clemson also has an outstanding academic reputation. And Clemson has the BEST fanbase! They ARE like family. I know momma's opinion matters to Robert, as it does with every son. But, I think it's up to HIM to recruit HER now. When she sees what Clemson has to offer, and where her son fits into everything, I don't think it will be possible to say no. Just like any Mom, she wants what's best for her son.

P.S.

I hate to give in to the media. I know they're just DYING to have a story here, and are conjuring any type of drama that they can come up with. I just felt like it needed to be said. Also, I think Robert would have a little more pride than to not honor a commitment. You don't get as good as he is without honoring commitments to yourself (workouts, playbook learning, practice, schoolwork, etc.).

Very good points, Willard. The constant harrassment by the

media toward RN is exactly why the NCAA needs to address the issue of early verbal commitments IMO by allowing recruits to sign with schools immediately following their junior year, if they're ready to commit. Then there should be a hands-off rule to other schools. If not, then I would support disallowing verbals until actual signing day. The amount of attention and pressure put on these young guys, largely perpetuated by the schools and media, is seriously misguided, considering their age.
