Did the Gamecocks REALLY get 5th place rings last year?

I've seen it a bunch...but I thought it was just a joke originally. You know...The Onion type stuff.....satire if you will. Surely they didnt really get rings did they?

But, they did get rings last year. Rings that doubled as bowl rings.
Not too far from issuing rings for winning the Peach Bowl.
But, admittedly, it is more fun to refer to them as 5th place rings.

next thing you know they will get rings for 5,6,7 wins. if sos can't pay'em, he'll make them some rings they can pawn or melt down for 2-3 thousand bucks. heck, if you can't pay'em,gotta get them the money somehow,if not,they will go to some place respectable.

and you can also get the magical season on dvd...lol so awesome they won 10 reg season games and a bowl...guess when you dont have history you just make stuff up to get rings about
