td phillips replacement

with terry don set to leave next summer i have heard a name floating around, that was considered before terry don was hired. the name is danny morrison, who is president of the panthers. he was ad at tcu before going to panthers and before that commish of southern conf.and ad at wofford. i know he was one of the finalist last time and i hear he is interested and we are interested in him. i know we have several in house people who are qualified and interested but just thought i would pass along a rumor. this will be a very important hire with money being so important within conferences. we MUST get a really good one.

I was thinking that going from President of the Panthers to AD at Clemson would be a big reduction in pay, then I saw that TDP is making $418k base salary! Hopefully this is another national search and we go out and get the best possible.

Morrison was a serious candidate at South Carolina briefly. He got his PhD here if I remember correctly. Either way he said he was staying with the Panthers.

Morrison would be a home run. Have no idea if he is interested. There is no internal candidate even remotely qualified in my opinion.

But I wouldn't expect him to take the paycut.

We can't know that. It's above our pay grade.

Clemson is closed mouthed about internal affairs. That's a good thing. It prevents most slanderous rumors from taking root and tarnishing our reputation.
Some say he is tired and others say he is paying for the mistakes he made with the Bowden extension.
I say, he did a fine job in one aspect. He's kept the athletic dept. clean which was his prime responsibility in a world of filth which is NCAA sports.
He retires in honor for that, hiring Dabo, BV, The Chad and Brownell. He leaves us better off than he found us.
