Rewatched the Cheez-it bowl

Forgotten just how bad our offense was last year but boy did I get reminded.
Hard to pinpoint the problem, nothing looked good. I know there were a lot of injuries but our OL was so bad in that game. Will Swinney started, my gosh.
DJ didn't look horrible except for one really bad INT.

Forget last year because IF we are healthy this year, we will look nothing like last year.

An O-line will always look bad when the defense has zero respect for the passing ability of the opposing QB. If you were the Defensive Coordinator, would you drop an extra guy back because your afraid D.J. would connect down field with WR’s who cannot get open.
If D.J. is terribly inaccurate and panics again when we play GT, the O-line will look the same as it did against GT last year. Defensive Coordinators have had zero reason not to stack the line against D.J.

More specifically Putnam looked lost.
The passing game was horrible, you're right, but I think it's more on the WRs/play calling. They were covered like glue the whole game and DJ had to throw it away many times.

and expect a conference championship and playoff appearance.
Because Dat Boy.
They won’t even entertain any other possibilities, even sensible ones such as we will be about the same or slightly better.

You're sounding more and more like a coot these days. Perhaps you should give sports a break for awhile.

Look, we were downright bad on offense last year.
DJ will likely be better this year, but not significantly so. Klubnik isn’t likely to overtake him this year.
Could DJ be amazing this year? Sure. Could Cade take over after a game or two and remind us of Deshaun and Trevor? It could happen. But neither of these things are likely.
Is our offensive line likely to be significantly better this year? Nope. Could they be the best offensive line we’ve ever had? Possibly. But I wouldn’t put any money on it. They are most likely going to be about like last year, maybe slightly better.
Are our wide receivers likely to be significantly better this year? No, especially not since we lost our best WR to the NFL and have very little in the way of proven commodities to rely upon.
Injuries hurt us last year on offense, but the entire unit was bad last year even before the injuries took their toll. We all hope for a better performance this year, but you’re crazy if you honestly believe it will be championship caliber.
Oh yeah, and we also have a new offensive coordinator who isn’t exactly experienced at being in charge of a power 5 offense. Plus, we have position coaches who are unproven commodities as well. In other words, we have lots of question marks.
I don’t need to give sports a break, because I’m perfectly content knowing that my expectations are reasonable. If anyone needs to give sports a break, it’s some of you who get so bothered when someone doesn’t think we are the best team in the ultraverse. It’s just sports, don’t let it dominate your life.

You're truly clueless about football.
Your jealousy of the program and them having the best success in program history, the 2nd best success in the nation and one of the best runs in college football history under Dabo's leadership, is sickening.
You're a horrible Clemson fan. Your infatuation with Brad Brownell is your only true connection to the University.

Yelp, this thread took a turn.
Looks like you got lots of fans, Judge.
Anyway, I think our oline could be better but we need our WRs EJ and Ngata to step up. Collins one and two were young and Taylor was out.
I think you throw in Spector and that unit can be better.

Dude…we will be about the same on offense…we should be better on defense assuming we stay healthy up front … which means we will be about the same as a whole…which means we will win at the minimum 10 games and will still be favored to win the ACC…if you would care to wager on another team who who is more likely to win the ACC then us, I’m game….I’ll take us all day long…meanwhile…could we at least get a basketball team that is fun to watch…even if they don’t win??? I mean just give us something to watch or be excited about…please!!!

I pray your are wrong about our offense looking similar to last year. Honestly, the offense looked unprepared and had never taken a snap in practice. We couldn’t pass, catch or block and looked completely out of sync.
We can say last year was a one off for multiple reasons. This is a new year with new coordinators and a viable option at QB. We’ve had a year to fix the offense, no excuses.
In regards to BB and basketball, he’s lucky to even have a job. We have expectations with football.

I hope that Will Taylor coming back at WR could give us that slot guy that we need. Also, I am still convinced that Spector will make a difference but nobody here wants to believe me.
All those OL a year older have got to make a difference. Plus we get a BIG addition would have started for us last year back in Dietrick Pennington. Dude is 6' 5" 335!

I think 9-11 wins this year is the most likely outcome. We should contend for a division title and conference title, but those should not be viewed as guarantees.
We know from last year that preseason predictions don't mean much. After all, we were predicted to be a shoe-in to win the ACC and make the playoffs. Some people felt that we might win the national championship. How did those predictions work out?

She didn't go to Clemson, and she has no connection to Clemson,

except for an obvious infatuation with Brad Brownell.
She knows nothing about Clemson sports otherwise. She attacks other programs and people while claiming to be "realistic" and above board, yet she cries like a bithc when everyone realistically critiques the obviously broken basketball program.
I like Brad Brownell. I think he's done a great job with everything, except maintaining rosters and winning enough. I hope for the best, but after 12 seasons it will be a miracle if he has a sudden turnaround. Other than Gabe Devoe and the guards getting hot in one postseason, he has zero tournament wins in 12 years. With the 38th highest salary in America, that's grossly unacceptable. Barring some sort of anomaly in the clear data, Brad will either not make the tournament or he'll lose in the first round. Not making it or making it and losing again will be the end.
Two positives will come of that. We will new blood and fresh lease on a basketball program with tremendous potential, and Ms. Keller will pack her bags and follow Brad to his next destination. The incessant whining, trolling, and repeated (already defeated) excuses will disappear with her. There's no doubt the vast majority of the board will be happy about that.
Nonetheless, go Brad! Go Tigers!

Calling Dabo "Dat Boy" isn't an insult.

That's what his older brother called him when he was a baby. He referred to him as "dat boy," which sounded like Dabo and the nickname stuck.
Do you get this upset when people refer to Brownell as Brownlee?

If early on DJ is not performing well, keep in mind the factor Cade could bring with his running ability. TL got better hitting his receivers after a few games and Cade will too. In the meantime, his running will win games we lost last year.

Games like that are why I think our offense will never get where it needs to be under DJ. We need a "Turn the Page" type season, and Cade Klubnick is going to have to be the one to lead it.

And he definitely is playing a role but there is just too much blame to go around. I am convinced of this the more I go back and look at old games.
First off, our WRs were awful last year and our play calling was super unimaginable.
I don't think it's DJs fault that hardly anyone was open and when they were they dropped it half the time. Throw in a OL who can't provide a push for our RBs and you got what we had last year.

The playcalling was from the same guy who led
Jun 6, 2022, 4:00 PM

Clemson to our most productive offense in Clemson history not to mention leading us to 75% of every CFP ever held, going to half of every CFP championship ever played, two national championships (the 2nd best team in the CFP era), the 2nd most playoff wins and three 2nd most wins in the nation while he was guiding the offense.
Play calling was the same until it was clear DJ was in an unfixable funk, and we focused more on the running game. We were 4-3 and the season looked lost, until excellent coaching and play calling adjustments led us to the 3rd longest 10+ win streak in the history of the game and a #14 finish coming out from the bottom of the woodpile.
The play calling was fine. When your QB has trouble connecting on his throws even from 5 yards, then there is nothing you can call to fix it. And contrary to your statement about receivers jot being open, there was most definitely open guys. When DJ wasn't missing open guys the WRs were dropping an inordinate amount of passes. Add in injuries and constant lineup changes on the OL, it was a recipe for a complete disaster. Coaching and play calling adjustments saved the season.
There is no absolutely ZERO doubt the biggest issue on the offense last year was a QB who regressed a ton, followed by drops and injuries. Just imagine Trevor Lawrence or the DJ from 2020 leading that team.. we likely beat UGA, nC State, and Pitt.
